Hillary didn't need a 9th inning base hit in a blowout to pad her stats
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 10:05 PM by NJSecularist
... she needed to go 4 for 4 and get timely base hits with runners on.

She needed to stop Obama's momentum. She didn't do that.

Her ending was terrific, but it doesn't erase most of the debate where Hillary turned in one of her worst debate performances and Obama turned in, bar none, his best.

Hillary needed to stop Obama's momentum. I do not believe she did that. This was her last chance.

She needs to have faith in her stumping ability because this was the last time on the national stage where she could do something. He failed to do that.

She needs to hope and pray that her campaigning on the ground has a huge impact on her chances because this debate did nothing for that.

2. More points on the "hope" credit card for saying "desperate"
Proud of copying Gingrichian propaganda techniques?

21. Using "desperate" over and over has been an Obama "movement" theme
Very Gingrichian.

12. Oh shove it.
I am so sick of your shit.

Hillary gave her heart and praised Obama and still you can't except that.

23. I'm not criticizing her last comment; she was awesome at the end.

Her attacks, however, were lame and seemed to be forced.

You are my man, Ronny, and I'm sorry if my comments offend you. Truly.

3. Wherefore art thou, Hillary?
Are you the calculating "change-you-can-xerox" hack or the kind and decent soul who spoke at the end?

Therein lies the problem; 35 years on stage and still nobody knows who she is.

5. This debate just proved that she hasn't changed her debate tactic...
she's still playing it safe as if super tuesday was still three weeks away and she was sitting on double digit leads through the country.

Her last little diatribe almost sounded like a concession speech.

15. She needed to lay it all on the line and go for the jugular. She would have come off...
as either desperate and unprofessional, or as brilliant and proving that she is really ready on day one. The later would have put her head and shoulders above Barack, but she she keeps calling Barack an empty suit and this debate did nothing to separate her from Barack.

I'm a Yankee fan, I can't help it. :)

I remember 2004 vividly and how everybody compared that to what Kerry was going to do.

18. I saw a cold, arrogant man that claimed puffery as accomplishments - the 90% AA plus
college white males afraid of girls vote plus the college town Starbucks vote may win him the nomination, but McCain now has a shot as I doubt the even the Teamster Obama endorsement will convince the working man that this fellow is ready to do battle for them against the corporations - heck, he wants to cooperate with the corporations and the GOP to get a "changed atmosphere in DC where we will get bipartisan action and accomplishments via his ability to bring people together".

Heck - McCain at least has a record of fighting the military industrial companies over corporate welfare bills that fund unneeded "security" purchases. Try to find an Obama vote in the Senate - or even a speech - that attacked specific contracts that were about to be funded.

And this fellow has convinced himself he is ready to be commander in chief.

I expect Obama to win Texas and Ohio, ending Hillary's bid, and to then lead McCain in the polls by 20 points through August - followed by an even race on 9/15 and a 10 point loss in the polls and the election beginning mid-October - A classic "nice guy but not ready to be commander in chief" response by the American public that will be led by the media push for Obama ending 9/1 and the dissecting of Obama to begin about that time - with the war hero media praise of McCain going into high gear at that point.

It is not like we have not seen this movie before - indeed more than once.

29. I don't "like the GOP - and have fought for the far left for 50 years - but Obama is a blank when we
need a bullet.

He will get my vote - but little else. And amoung the seniot crowd I hang with, McCain is likely to get many that wanted Hillary

24. Good end for her except for what she used from Bill and Edwards.
She clearly echoed Bill and Edwards at the end. Everyone noticed. I agree the story about the veterans was nice. Gotta give her that. But in the morning everyone's also going to be talking about the latest example of "plagiarism" hypocrisy. I don't want to keep this debate going, but she can't have it both ways.

28. She Consistently Got Louder Applause Than He Did Throughout The Debate.
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 11:15 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
She did really good tonight. He definitely did better than he had previously. She definitely hit a home run with her closing statement. Overall, she didn't do enough to swing momentum her way and I'm fairly certain Obama will be the nominee. But in my opinion she still beat him tonight and showed that she would in fact make the better President, she just didn't do so in nearly a lopsided enough way to stop his steamrolling momentum.
