Who Is Styling Hillary's Clothes? ---pix--->>>

The suits are nice, but what is with those wicked stepmother collars? I've never seen anyone press their collars like that, have you? Anyone know who her stylist is?

25. Ugh. Not sexism. The truth is women don't wear a uniform like men do.
The only variation they really can do are ties. But for women there are a lot of choices. I think Hillary has looked fabulous during this campaign .... except last night. I did not like that suit at all, and found the collar distracting. I kept looking at it, thinking LIE FLAT Collar! It did not look good on TV. Her suit from the previous debate was much better.

70. Hillary wears high collars because, as with most women,
the skin on the neck is one of the most visible places where one shows one's age. The high collars hide the sagging, wrinkling skin on her neck.

It happens to everyone, it will happen to me someday, too.

It happens to men, but they don't seem to give a flying fig about it.

80. In fairness I have to say this isn't sexist so much as just cheap/shallow
It is further lowering of the (already pretty low standards) of political discourse in this country. In fairness as a Hillary supporter, I have to acknowledge that there is similar garbage about Barack out there...
Of course it has been going on for a long time and it will go on for a long time. Sadly, ultimately that is what will win or lose this election and probably others-whether the candidate wore the right
kind of suit or not.

Some of her suits have normal collars, but when she's hunting for bear (big speech, debate) she turns up in these odd starched collars. I don't think it's an accident. I'm wondering who's styling her, as I plainly stated.

34. Actually, this site really, really digs John Kerry's ties:
http://welovejohnkerry.com/

The truth is women get to vary their wardrobe more than men in politics, so I don't see the problem in discussing what Hillary wears. It is important to a lot of us. I always liked that Hillary would wear something colorful to contrast her from all the "Suits" when the debates had 8 or so people in them. I noticed when she one on one debated Obama, she switched to a dark suit. I honestly did not like her suit last night because of the distracting collar.

66. It's really a shame that we have the first serious woman candidate for
the Democratic nominee for President and we have threads in GD-P about the collars on her suits and her smooth skin. How shallow can we get?

69. I've posted many threads about her war vote, her finances, misguided policies
Her mismanaged campaign, her husband's mysterious benefactors, the list goes on, check my journal. I don't recall you commenting on those. I guess this is an interesting topic.

71. We live in the era of television so it's visual. And Women are ... different than men.
There I said it. Women can do the same jobs as men but they are different, and one way they are different is they have more fashion options in a job like a politician. It's in our bloody DNA to want to talk about what women are wearing. There is nothing wrong with it. I mean, I can understand if male DUers are bored with this conversation but this faux feminist outrage is really over the top. It's a suit. It's a collar. It's Friday night. Why not?

93. She is paying many millions to her consultants.
No doubt they are telling her what to wear when she appears in a nationally televised prime time debate. I'd like to know who her stylist is. Simple question, really.

84. Thank you for saying that. I was beginning to think maybe I was an aberration.
I like the way she dresses, and I very much liked her suit last night.

I just wish the Nehru collar style would make a comeback. :D

68. Blue is not her color. The blue suits are awful. But Hillary ROCKED that black pantsuit.
Even with the weird collar, the contrast between the trim and black was very flattering, in my opinion.

Please stop this.

I really like you. You have given me many laughs on DU with your picture posts.

Please don't go down this road. I just hate this kind of stuff.

79. Look. This is not about her looks. It's about her weird collars.
Her suits are nice, her hair looks good, she did fine in the debate until she went for the silly Xerox line, but those collars are weird. So sue me.

92. She Has A Long Neck
The "standing" collar softens it and puts her in better proportion than the collar style of the suit in #76 (before it was photo-shopped). It's tailored into the cut of the jacket and not a question of pressing it. I'd also guess that...picking this style and sticking to it gives her more opportunities to wear necklaces without worrying so much about necklace length.

A professional woman who has to travel light and make intelligent business wardrobe decisions picks a few styles and sticks to them.
