Hillary needs a saxophone

Over dinner we were talking about Hillary and Obama and remarking on how curiously sterile Hillary's public image seems. She's not a joke-teller or backslapper. I can't think of any folksy things she does that would make her seem more human to the average voters. Of course I never met her in person, but her public persona is boring.

I still remember how cool it was when Bill Clinton used to jam on his saxophone during his campaign.

Hillary's campaign would, I think, be in a bit better shape if she showed some aspects of her personality besides political ambition. If she dusted off an old accordion and tried to play it. Or confessed to a secret passion for coconut macaroons. Or whatever.

Just some random thoughts on an icy Friday night.

5. There's nothing she could do to make her look cooler than Barack....

James Dean was a nerd compared to Barack.

11. I heard she was advised specifically to avoid saxophone playing
not long after Obama won Iowa, which indicated she could be in for a tough campaign.

They told her: "No sax before a fight."

12. Wind instrument doesn't seem to be her forte
She is an introvert while most people are extroverts, that is why she has difficulty connecting

that is why those hobbies listed are things you do alone

15. She's not a contestant on "American Idol", for Christ's sakes.
I think she comes off as a warm person. No expects her to get up on stage and do a big musical song and dance or anything.

16. I'm not expecting that!
I just think she would appeal more to voters if she let us glimpse other dimensions of her personality.
