Why I think Hilary Clinton needs to drop out sooner rather than later.
First, in the interest of full disclosure, let me tell you where I stand on the candidates: I'm not a big fan of either of them. I wanted Russ Feingold to run, then I supported Kucinich (less enthusiastically}, and then Edwards {even less enthusiastically). For the CT primary, I wanted to write in the name "Bernie Sanders" but no one at the polls could tell me how to do so. I think that there is so little difference between Obama and Clinton that the arguments and vitriol that goes on in this forum are beyond the point of parody, it's absurd in the extreme.. I considered voting third party in this election.

And then I think about the Supreme Court.

We are ONE Justice away from becoming, irreversibly, a theocracy; and that is the only thing we have left to fight for. Corporatists rule our country. The economy is an unstoppable freight train to hell. Our civil rights are gone. But we still have a chance, a tiny one, if we can get someone into office who will not nominate the next Alito to the Supreme Court. Both Hilary and Barack fit that bill.

But here's the thing: Hilary is losing. Not only is she losing, but the "pop culture" wisdom is that she has run a bad campaign and she is destined to lose. By pop culture, I am referring to late-night comedians, movie reviewers, and celebrities. She has become a go-to joke. Whether or not you agree with it, it is a fact. In the mainstream culture, Hilary Clinton has become a joke.

I am not going to say that Clinton cannot win the Democratic nomination. However, if you look at recent polls, Obama's momentum, and the "pop culture" wisdom, there is ONLY one way she can win: Barack Obama must be destroyed. Something must happen that will cause his whole campaign to quickly, and completely, come apart at the seems. My argument is, that in February 2008, this kind of complete unraveling by the Obama campaign would be as disastrous for the Democratic party as it is unlikely.

Hilary, fairly or unfairly, is done, barring a disastrous misstep by the Obama campaign. It is time for her to accept that fact. If she really cares most about the future of our country, and of the Democratic party, I believe that she will.

1. Relax
Stop overreacting - there's plenty of time for her to bow out and still save face.

So if I can find similar references to Obama, you'll agree that he's a national joke, too, right?

5. she should stay in
and fight to the very end, let every state participate...its democracy, so lets give everyone in this country a chance to vote, and allow them to be counted.

31. You want her to drop out. Upcoming states/voters will not be able to cast
a vote except for one person (viable).

So there votes won't count--don't matter--the same shit that Obamafolks have tossed at the Hillary campaign. Hypocritical.

6. As An Obama Supporter, I Don't Think She Should Drop Out
Anything can still happen. I do think she should quit the negative campaigning and just be herself. Even if she doesn't win she still has time to salvage her reputation.

and will do what she thinks is best, which I think is to keep on campaigning.

This is still a two-horse race, though some people don't like that.

people are sick of swamp politics.

If this doesn't let up, apathy will set back in and all of those energized primary voters will blow November off.
