Pogo "We Have Met The Enemy and He Is Us". Thanks to the Internet and DU, I have never seen such
hysterical ranting for political candidates as on DU between the Clinton and Obama groups.

The level of vitriolic hatred has risen to the point where any kind of reconciliation between the two groups to join and fight against the Republican candidate in the general election will be impaired.

IMO it’s possible that the Internet and young voters may select a Democratic candidate but the primary process will leave so much hostility that in the general election we Democrats will once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

8. without wanting to add to the controversy
POGO WAS THE GREATEST.

And to my Obama brothers and sisters: We have won. We should now act like victors and with as much tolerance as Sen. Obama. If he can give a restrained calm response. So should we. Let them have their anger - they are reacting to 11 straight losses. They too know its over.

9. I agree that some of it's been harsh, but I do not think its been all that bad.

So long as the nomination is not by the fiat of super delegates, I think we will be able to come together.

On edit: I think the gloating is really bad, and I hope it will stop. I support Obama and IMO most of the gloating has been by Obama supporters. Ask HC supporters to please not hold gloating by some against Obama.

10. I think those fights...
are influenced by external forces to DU. In other words freepers paid to pose as HRC or Obama just to create an air of division. I wouldn't think Duers would be so stupid.

21. You've got another thought coming. There were many long standing
DU members posting right wing crap. I know some were outsiders but much was from long time members. It was soooo upsetting/disheartening to see my fellow DUers regurgitating right wing/Limpballs comments against our own Dem candidate.

13. I keep hearing about so called young voters, I don't believe
they are a very big percentage of the total vote, but the most important thing for all of us, is to keep our eyes on the goal of taking back this nation from failed republican policies.

15. We're thinking on similar lines.
I used that quote from The Pogo Papers earlier in Will Pitts post.

I also said, I understand passion and yearning desire to see something you believe in come to fruition.

What I don't understand is a need to sacrifice your honor, dignity and respect of your peers to achieve it.

I'll go further and say I agree with your point regarding the hostility created this primary season and the GE. That was what I had in mind when I used the The Pogo Papers quote.

We are becoming our own worst enemies.

18. What do you mean...WILL be impaired?
I'm afraid the deed has already been done. Just take a look at the front page at any moment of any day and notice all the Hillary hate posts...and we're suppose to forget and join hands? Think again! It's going to take me a loooooog time to forgive a lot of posters here...if ever. I'm soooo disappointed in so many of my fellow DUers that I had so much respect for.

I wouldn't have minded someone from supporting another candidate to the best of their knowledge and ability but when they resorted to sliming Hillary with right Wing talking points...that became unforgivable and I don't know if I can ever respect/forgive those posters again. It's hard not to hold it against their candidate...who let that type of practice to continue. He could have rained it in if he really wanted to.

20. That what some have been trying to get across
No matter who win's the primary, they can't depend on Ind. and Rep.. to vote democratic, lets hope some do (but we don't know this, many times dem. and rep, have crossed over in primaries and then vote what ever their party in G.E...this seems to fall on deaf ears.
