Look, the Clinton campaign has no choice at this point but to throw the 3rd and long Hail Mary pass. The only play left in their play book is to aggressively go on the attack and hope that something sticks. If positions were reversed, the Obama campaign would be stuck with the same situation.

Now listen, I don't agree with her characterizations. And I personally don't think she did herself any favors my making her look like she is out of control. Going back and forth between being conciliatory to combative, from warm to cool, from friend of Obama to stringent opposer - her campaign runs the risk of looking really schizophrenic.

But fellow Obama supporters, you need to lay off the personal attacks about Hillary as a person and focus on criticizing her campaign. Phrases like the "wifey" thing - totally out of line. There's plently of room to analyze the ways in which her campaign, message and/or advisor's have all failed to deliver, or room to discuss what policy proposals we disagree with or what leadership traits we don't see. Hell, I even think its fair to talk about things like twenty years of two family rule and all of that.

What I can't stand are sexist comments, or purely mean substanceless smears. I think Hillary's campaign has been a disaster. Lots of Hillary supporters won't like me for saying so, but at least I can give reasons why I think that which are about POLITICS not not about the POLITICS OF PERSONAL DESTRUCTION.

There are a lot of Obama supporters who are reasonable and get very little credit. I love you guys. But I swear to god, I am going to start spending more time dealing with and calling out the fringe extremists in our own camp than I am worrying about the other side. I'm sick of the "haters."

Consider this a police-action.

That is all.

*walks off humming Cops theme*

1. I'm with you, Political Heretic.
I'm sick of the sexist garbage, too. It's wrong and it also doesn't work. It's not in keeping with the type of campaign Senator Obama is trying to run, and with the positive, excited nature of those people OUT THERE who support him. There is NO NEED TO BEHAVE IN SUCH A FASHION. We can rightfully respond with anger at what Senator Clinton has been doing, and we can criticize her, but why in the world would we stoop to levels of scum and dung? Obama hasn't had to do that to become as successful as he has. We keep saying how Clinton is ruining her campaign and will go out in disgrace if she continues to behave in such a way. Why then would it be okay for Obama supporters to act like that?

That being said, I really don't think the vast majority of supporters on either side believe or behave like what I see here. Thank goodness for that. Pretty soon all this is going to be over and we can either pull together or help f**k it all up. Let's try to keep the spillover to a minimum, and as I asked the other day, in my usual foul-mouthed way:

Let's not shit where we eat, okay?

2. You make a valid point - there is no need to smear - by both sides.
That is what she did.
She could have said I have policy differences - these mailers are not accurate.
But she went over the line.

3. I agree with you, strongly! You also explained the point in a rational way free of smears.
Kudos!

4. I Don't Think They Had To Do That And She Is In Charge
of the campaign but I agree that we should stay away from sexist remarks. The only problem with that is that nearly every criticism of her is sexist in some people's minds.
