So Obama skipped State of the Black Union conference in NOLA
while Hillary came.

Of course, the voters of LA already gave their votes to Obama so who needs them now?

This means that if any blacks think that Obama will be "their" president, they should think again.

And, no, Obama should not run as the black candidate just as Clinton should not run as the woman candidate. However when members of the Black Congressional Caucus put pressure on other black Super Delegates to vote for "the brother," they should reply: Let them Come to New Orleans

1. Hillary HAD to go since she blew off their primary and then said their votes didn't count
and all that AFTER the crap her campaign spewed during the SC primary.

5. It is too late for her there. And why didn't Obama attend
when the organizers specifically asked him to come?

2. Okay, so Hillary pandered and shilled while Obama thinks we are all Americans equally.
Wow. Perspective. Who'd have thought?

7. the perspective from black america seems to be...so what?
we know that Obama is running to be President of all the people, not just Black America. And everyone I've spoken with, and the callers on Black radio almost unanimously give Obama their blessing. Nice try though.

And we also know that the fiasco that occurred in the wake of Katrina, would never have happened on Obama's or Clinton's watch. So we've got this covered in the black community, but thanks for the "concern".

16. Thank you! I'm tired of the "concerned" posts
about Obama not going to the SOTBU. Does he have to go to every gathering of black folks or "black leaders"?

19. No he doesn't, and this bodes well for him in the GE...
This shows that he is an independent and unbiased candidate who will not be intimidated by special interest groups. I have no doubt that lobbyists will find themselves on the outside looking in with Pres. Obama's administration. Good on him!

Tavis is a savvy businessman, who knew that just having a Clinton and/or Obama at his function would cause a media frenzy, thereby raising his own profile. Most of us in Black America are on to Tavis' game here, BIG TIME.

11. He didn't attend last year because it was held on the same he
announced his candidacy. They booed every time his name was mentioned and said he wasn't black enough. LOL!

He sent a letter with regrets because of his schedule and offered to send Michelle, Tavis said no.

This year, every time his name was mentioned they shouted and clapped with glee.

Clinton Offers Regrets for Spouse’s Remarks

By Julie Bosman

NEW ORLEANS – Appearing before a predominantly black audience here Saturday afternoon, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton defended her husband’s legacy on race relations and offered an apology of sorts for comments he made in South Carolina several weeks ago that many people viewed as racially insensitive.

In a question-and-answer session after her speech at the State of the Black Union event, Mrs. Clinton was asked by Tavis Smiley, the host of the event, how she felt about “what some termed racial comments” by Mr. Clinton.

“I think there are enough of you here today who know him personally and know his heart,” she said, then stopped for a long pause. “If anyone was offended about anything that was said, whether it was meant or not, whether it was misinterpreted or not, then obviously I regret that.”

<...>

Mrs. Clinton’s brief appearance in New Orleans was not a traditional campaign stop, considering that Louisiana has already held its contest – on Feb. 9 – and voted decisively for Mr. Obama, who won by 22 points.

According to a campaign spokesman, Mrs. Clinton had agreed to attend the event after bumping into Mr. Smiley several weeks ago in Los Angeles.

Because if you're black, you're also a zombie! Would be nice if you could think for yourself, like I don't know...FIVE fifths of a person!

(Don't know how to do a sarcasm tag...someone help before I get flamed a lot!)
