This is a forward from DailyKos: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/2/24/17467/0743/417/463329

These 3 attacked Obama today.

My message read:
Vietnam Era Vet -- Obama Supporter -- mess with my candidate mess with me
I have had it with the American third reich version of patriotism. Michelle Obama did
not say anything that was not in my heart for years. It was cleansing to hear it on a national stage.

Furthermore, the idea of flags (and fish (with crosses) ) waving from your car or you body is sickening to me.

10. I don't doubt that. But good luck trying to get the MSM to do anything but
trash the nominee.

2. Here's what I sent
Just to let you know that patriotism does not depend on displays of exterior symbols such as lapel pins or flags. Nor is it predicated on whether one places their hand on their heart during the singing of the national anthem. These are merely easily displayed indications of "patriotism" much like "pietism". True patriotism and true piety are in the heart - not on a flag decal or a fish symbol.
As John Prine said - "Your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore...."

Stop characterizing patriotism as whether or not one wears a flag lapel pin, which was probably made in China anyway. Millions of people don't wear flag pins, have flags on their cars or homes and are still good "Americans". In fact it is entirely possible that those who don't have those outward displays are better Americans than those who do.

4. Thank you. I realize my language suffers a bit of vulgarity when I am angry. So I ask for help.
Hey, we all have to chip in.

6. This 'flag lapel" business is standard MSM fare. BO should have anticipated it.,
The stupid press holds all candidates to stupid ground rules like these.

Trying to change the ground rules mid-stream, or attempting to complain one's way out of being held to the same ground rules, has never worked before.

But then, never before has the corporate media fawned over a Democrat as they do Obama.
