DU Shenanigans Aside, I Feel Pretty Confident That We'll Come Together Later
I have a feeling that the people who post the idiotic crap around here are just a handful of people with too much time on their hands. Honestly, I don't think that the tenor at DU is indicative of the general mood. While the media finds people to moan that a drawn out race will make Dems depressed, I think the general mood is quite the opposite.

It seems to me that Dems are not witnessing a bloody deathmatch, but rather an exciting contest between two great candidates where they are trying to find a sliver of difference without going overboard. South Carolina worried me, but the race got back on track pretty quickly. It seems to me that Dems are like kids looking at two of their favorite toys at the toy store and are only allowed to pick one.

People who say they will never support the other candidate are either being hyperbolic or just dumb. And they are very much a minority.

I think we are going to rally against an crusty old coot who flipped off the straight talk express into crazy right wing base land while managing to simultaneously drain all conservative enthusiasm out of some already disheartened diehards.

Bush would have never won without a huge turnout of fundies and they simply are not going to bother leaving their house. Meanwhile, we have got two incredible candidates and I cannot wait until we have a Dem in the White House again!!!

2. I haven't been here in a while and all I can say is WOW!
Clintons the Anti-Christ and Obama's the Savior of vice versa, depending upon which side of the fence you're on?

Makes me think I should have stayed away a little longer -- like maybe until 2012!

Personally, I think they're two peas in a pod when compared to progressives like Kucinich or Edwards. And, if this is the kind of crapola their supporters spew ... maybe I'll just head back to Yahoo! Games this election cycle. Who would want to volunteer to work with people like this?

4. Boy, are you naive
This primary season has taught us one thing and one thing only. The race for the Presidency is just a step away from a combination of American Idol and Ebay. It has totally turned me off from politics. I'm not even sure I'll vote in November. If I don't vote, my son doesn't vote, since I drive him to the polls. That could be 2 votes that the dems will lose over their crap flinging this primary. I am ashamed and disgusted by what has gone on in this primary, it was total RW politics, but done by dems.

I thought we were better than that, but I found out we aren't.

5. Wrong.
Similar fighting in 2004, everyone coalesced. Let's get ready to rumble.

6. Sorry, but I don't like fighting
I hate all the crap that has been spewed. Right now, I can't stand Obama, and will not vote for him. More than a few of his supporters have been quite crude and rude in their attacks of other candidates. If this is what he "inspires" I want no part of him. For the first time in 40 years, I will stay home and not vote, rather than vote for a person who inspires such hatred in his supporters. As far as I'm concerned, he's turned dems into the repubs that we all hated and ridiculed. Just like those who we said drank the kool-aid for Bush, but now it's Obama.

7. With all due respect, you should take some time off from DU
if you're considering not voting at all because of crap being spewed on a message board. This isn't reality. People post here with all sorts of motives, including just fucking with people's heads. You've got to separate candidate's so-called "supporters" from the candidates themselves. That's my two cents anyway, take it or leave it.

14. No, I MADE him vote, so the dems had an extra
vote each election that they didn't earn.

17. How sad that you have to make your son vote
I'm proud to say, I have no such a situation with my 21 year old son. He was thrilled to vote for for JK last time when he had just turned 18, and this year he's been volunteering for Obama and is even more excited. He takes his civic duty more seriously than you do, and he's incredibly well informed.

18. Who cares what you think
I certainly don't. You are one of the very people who have turned me off from politics.

And, yes, of course, your perfect son is so much better than my son.

19. If you allow yourself to be turned off to politics
because of posters on an internet political board, your interest in the welfare of this country is mighty scant.

22. And who the hell are you to tell me anything
You were just an Obama kool-aid drinker from the get-go. You have no idea who I am or what I do. Let's see how you'll do when your boy loses. Oh, whoops, can't say boy because Obama supporters will call me racist. But, then I don't think of him as much as a man, as I do as a political tool.

And, while I don't really care for Clinton, at least she has more balls than Obama does.

23. I don't whine.
I was brought up in a rather old school tradition. If Obama had lost to Hill, I'd have accepted it, just as I accepted it when Dean lost to Kerry. C'est la vie. And I post when and where I wish. That you can't do a thing about. Too bad for you And actually your invariably ill informed I didn't start supporting Obama until the day before Iowa. Hardly since the get go. As for "balls", Obama fights smart- that's why he's crushing hilly. Looks like you'll have lots more sour grapes to sate your appetite. And when Obama wins in November, be careful not to choke on your own bitter bile.

24. No, you were brought up in a 5,000 square foot house
You don't care about the little guy. You have no idea what it is like at the bottom, so one politician is the same as another one to you. Obama will screw us just like all the dems we elected in 2006. When you lose your house, maybe, just maybe you will have compassion. Until then keep drinking the kool-aid, it suits you, or should I say latte? A latte liberal telling us what Obama will magically change when he gets into office. Or as one of his supporters called him, our guardian angel. Yeah, right.

15. You forgot the whining while "walking on water"
Yes, even while they are "winning" they whine. Poor Obama is now having a pic shown of him dressed in African garb. Boo Hoo! And, anytime ANYONE disagrees with the Obama love-in they are called hillbots. I don't like either one of them, but I would take Clinton over Obama anytime. At least Clinton is not passive-aggressive.

13. Thanks for caring
But, you have no idea. The dems had an extra vote for the last 12 years because I MADE my son vote. He hates politics and thinks there is nothing you can do to change what is going on. I'm starting to come around to HIS view thanks to people in the Obama camp.

20. You Aren't Alone, Zalinda
Don't let the Obama supporters bully you...They can be very intimidating from the anonymity of their computers...I know lots of folks who loathe Republicans but can't embrace Obama and/or his supporters and face the same quandary you do...

If the election was tomorrow I would be compelled to leave the presidential part of the ballot blank and it's almost physically painful to admit that...

I also have lots of friends , the majority of whom while they might not be as liberal as DU but are reliable Democratic votes and they have the same problem with Obama and/or his supporters as we do...
