Is having standards a crime against the party?
You'd think it were by the responses I get from people when I state that I won't vote for Hillary because she has violated my own sense of fairness and standards. I'm not going to vote for the "least worst" candidate if it's Hillary vs. McCain in the election, because I know that a Hillary win in 2008 means a Dem blood bath in 2010.

If you want to elevate a woman who has so low a threshold for garbaging trolling in campaign season, don't be surprised when you get your come-uppence in Nov 2008, or Nov 2010.

1. Nope. It is treason against the United States, apparently
If you vote according to standards of decency and adherence to alleged party values (pro-labor, pro-equal rights, etc.) then you are enabling the Republicans in their trashing of the American economy and shredding of the US Constitution. It is called "argumentum ad boogeyman:" If you do not believe me and do as I tell you, something evil will crawl out from under your bed and eat you.

2. The other problem this opens up, is losing the WH in 2012.
No way HRC could keep it, even if she manages to win it. By that time, things are going to be such a mess - thanks to her, that we'll be luck if we're only facing another 8 years of repuke idiots.

7. Then you really shouldn't be on DU. Sorry.
Not trying to be a dick, but this place is for Dems. There are other boards you can visit if you support Nader.

5. Define "standards."
If by "standards," you mean Eugene Debs or Gus Hall or some other ideologically pure fringe candidate, then, no, it's not a crime against the party, but it's unrealistic and hobbles our chances at winning.

I'll vote for the Dem who grabs the baton.

9. No. But having DOUBLE STANDARDS **is** a crime against the party.
If you think it'll be a walk in the park with a first black president, you're sort of fooling yourself.

If he can dish it, he'll need to take it.

12. You'd rather have more conservatives on the supreme court?
That is a ridiculous, dangerous, arrogant and selfish attitude.

13. So you don't have a problem with those who feel the same about Obama, then, right?
