Wait a minute....you can't have it both ways....
I've seen the claims right here on D.U. that the fact that Barack Obama's father was a Muslim would help him in foreign affairs...the fact his grandmother is in Kenya would help him. Now it's a foul to show him in Kenyan garb?

You guys are throwing out accusations of a smear when there is no proof the Hillary campaign had anything to do with the photo and there is no reason to claim anyone using the photo is smearing Obama. It's not photoshopped, it's a real photo depicting something everyone already knows.

Are you trying to tell me that voters don't know his father was a Muslim and his grandmother lives in Kenya? Is this really news?

28. Rodeodance I thought that photo came out in the Enquirer Feb 4th
How did the accusations of it being circulated by the National Enquirer become Clinton's fault?

3. It goes to the intent in circulating the photo - and if it was circulated by the Clinton campaign,
I doubt their intent was to provide information or provide flattering material about Obama. Instead of spinning, the Clinton campaign should be denying. Apparently, they can't, not on any level - they could at least say, As far as we know... or, nothing like this would ever be sent by our campaign or approved for sending by our campaign...etc. They can't even do that.

21. The press is already noting the non-denial:

and they're taking the non-denial as a possible confirmation of Drudge. Any idiot would know that that is what would happen. The Clinton camp has given this story major legs.

from TPM:

Put it all together and the Clinton camp would appear to be unwilling to make even the most perfunctory denial that they are or were circulating this photo around.

We held up on this because we never want to take Drudge as a fact witness for anything. But I think the Clinton camp's statement speaks for itself.

33. False. Obama's camp drew attention to it, first...
And thus called HRC's campaign out on it. Look at the timeline.

Come on. Don't fall for this shit. The timing doesn't even make sense, it's still Democratic primary season.

52. Frankly, no it doesn't...
This is still the primary season. This appeals DIRECTLY to GOP-esque bigotry and paranoid reactionary minds.

Do you know a single Dem that would be swayed by this? Do you know a single independently-minded GOPer who may vote BHO in the primary, who'd be swayed by seeing him dressed like this?

Now, take the inverse....do you know a single Dem that would be swayed the opposite effect, by this? Thus, changing their vote from HRC to BHO, because she supposedly did this because Drudge says so? It's a reverse hit-piece, and the HRC campaign can't prove a negative.

Hell, me, you, and my dog would turn tail from her on this. And that's why I'm so skeptical. It just TOO ham-fisted to be credible.

I'm going to vote for the nom, period. Either way makes no difference to me, so I have no dog in this fight. Hate HRC if you must - I know that she may deserve a lot of scorn- but not for this. It just doesn't make sense, to me.

23. No campaign denies every crackpot accusation....
as evidenced by Obama's lack of response to Larry Sinclair. Not responding was proved to be the right choice since Sinclair is discredited. Drudge is about as credible as Larry Sinclair.

30. It's in the press now - they're feeding it by not denying it.
The press is taking their non-denial as somewhat of a confirmation. The Clinton folks are pros, they know the consequences of issuing a non-denial and they still did it.

22. Obvious as it is, you don't get it. First of all, let me say
that I've never claimed that Obama's background was either a positive or negative, and the problem isn't the photo, it's the intent behind the photo- trying to push the line that somehow Obama isn't really an American, that he's foreign and thus suspect, or that he's actually a stealth Muslim. That in a nutshell, is the problem.

it. Do you think this wouldn't have come out later if not now? You guys need to grow up or go home. This is NOTHING compared to what's to come if he is the nominee. Get used to it.

And IF and I say IF the Hillary Campaign had something to do with it it's no worse than his health care flier. This is a photo that obama knew was out there..it's not photoshopped it's real. Them's the facts and you guys are going to have to deal with it sooner rather than later.
