First, two points:
1. I see nothing wrong with the photo. There are so many images of pols from both sides of the aisle in traditional garb from every corner of the globe. Call me naive, but myself, and most here on DU would agree, that a Dem wearing local garb is NOT a bad thing.
2. Obviously some see something wrong with the photo, but only in terms of how it is being used to portray Obama. Fair enough; sad to say, I can buy that line of reasoning. We live in an ugly world.
This is NOT the GE. We are still in primary season. This is the kind stunt you'd see in the GE, by the GOP against whoever our nom may be. Can we agree on that?
So knowing point 1 above, why would this be used to sway Dem voters, in a primary?
If I were HRC, and I really REALLY wanted to lose, I'd do this right now, to completely alienate whoever may still be on my side, knowing point 2 above. The numbers show, she's not that far behind. Why risk this? And please, no "because she's evil and eats puppies" nonsense.
This just does not make sense to me, as a smart or a cunning or even cutthroat move. This REEKS of appealing to GOP-minded bigotry and reactionary attitudes.
And probaby the most important of all:
3. It's goddamned DRUDGE. Since when is THAT a credible source?
Flame away, but damn, this just doesn't make sense. There's enough water under the bridge right now to hate either candidate, if you must, but let's not be regurgitating right-wing sites to find grist for the mill. I'm voting for whoever the nom is, at this point, but we can't be using GOP-manufactured ammo on each other.
