3. Which proves the point!
WHY make this non-issue an issue NOW?

Why did Clinton campaign staffers ONCE AGAIN email reporters attempting to insinuate that Barack is a Muslim?

Hillary Campaign Acknowledges That County Chair Backing Hillary Passed Along Obama Muslim Smear Email
By Greg Sargent - December 5, 2007, 1:31PM
A day after the Hillary campaign hit the Obama camp for bullying voters in nasty phone calls, the Hillary crew has just acknowledged that an Iowa county chair volunteering for the campaign passed along the now-notorious email that smears Obama as a Muslim by repeating the false claim that he attended a madrassa as a child.

The Hillary campaign confirms that they are asking the county chair to step down from the campaign.

The charge was made by a Daily Kos diarist who identified himself as planning to "caucus" for Chris Dodd, suggesting that this happened in Iowa. In his diary he http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2007/12/4/95938/1959/821#c821">reported receiving the email:

Here's The Obama Muslim Smear E-mail Sent Out By The County Chair Volunteering For Hillary
By Greg Sargent - December 5, 2007, 3:13PM

We've just obtained a copy of the Obama Muslim smear email -- smear-mail? -- that the Iowa county chair volunteering for Hillary sent out. Key quotes:

"Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii . When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya . His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia . When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia . Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta."

And:

"Since it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States , Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background."

Ben Smith notes that one of the people on the chain of this email is a Clinton staffer named Ryan Callanan, who received the email on November 21. It's unclear what level Callanan occupies or what exactly this means.

22. The Clinton campaign has openly pushed the first two lines.
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 02:38 PM by Occam Bandage
It is not outside the bounds of possibility that some elements within the Clinton campaign would try floating the third.

And if you think any campaign is above using Drudge to float a line, then you're simply being willfully naive.

17. A county chair volunteering for her campaign?
This was no paid staffer with a high position. County chairs are lowly people in the grand scheme of things.

This was not a decision made at higher levels of the Clinton campaign. Hysterical Obamabots need to get a grip.

12. Let's analyze your observation...
WHY make this non-issue an issue NOW?

***This is an issue because Matt Drudge made it an issue, not because of anything else. It is Matt Drudge's decision. (And he is a republican quasi-operative, as I'm sure you know)

Why did Clinton campaign staffers ONCE AGAIN email reporters attempting to insinuate that Barack is a Muslim?

***Do you know who the email was sent to? If so, you might be psychic, because Drudge doesn't say it was sent to a reporter. It is plain that this is an email someone gave to Drudge, not an email from a Clinton staffer TO Drudge. Also, what prior incident are you referring to involving "Clinton campaign staffers ONCE AGAIN email reporters"? If recollection serves, the "muslim email" incident in Iowa involved a Clinton staffer emailing a Dodd campaign guy who she knew personally, not emailing reporters.

6. Actually it may be a good thing to bring it up now
so that it will be old news later on.

I have seen Bush in lots of muslim/african garb, and no-one had a problem.

It is just not too good when it looks as though it was sent from Clinton to Drudge.
Dems should avoid Drudge at all costs.

11.  Obama dressed as a Somali Elder
and this is of interest to the campaign why? When Nancy Pelosi placed a scarf on her head, did that make her a muslim woman, or was it out of respect for the culture and customs of the people she was visiting? Why is this any different?

13. The muslim emails were also circulating for quite some time
Yet some on her staff still felt the need to forward them.

It doesn't matter how long the picture has been around. What would be their motive if they sent it to a media person?

15. Another question to ask is "Why haven't we seen this picture before?"
Has the MSM been covering up this picture as a favor to Obama?

They sure would not have done that for Hillary, but then, Hillary and the Corporate Media are not on the same side.

More interesting to me than where did this picture come from today, is the question: "Where has this supposedly damaging photo BEEN since it first appeared on the web nearly two whole years ago?"

I'll go further and say I'm almost positive it was posted here on DU right around the time that Obama announced formally he was running for president.

It was in GD if I'm not mistaken. But I know I saw it and I'm pretty sure it was on here. Like 96% sure.
