Oh My Gawd, What A Ticket
FW: Oh My God, What A Ticket

In a bold move that could dramatically alter the
playing field of the 2008 GOP presidential race,
former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee today named Jesus
Christ as his vice presidential running mate.

Huckabee has made an increasing number of comments
about his relationship with Jesus in recent debates,
but few Republican insiders expected him to announce
that he was anointing Christ as his vice presidential
pick.

"This could be huge for Huckabee,” said Stenson
Partridge, a veteran GOP consultant. “Among Republican
voters, Jesus Christ is even more popular than Ronald
Reagan< /SPAN>.”

The Rev. Pat Robertson, a supporter of former New York
Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, said he was “blind sided” by
the news of Huckabee’s decision: “I talked to Jesus
last night, and he didn’t mention anything about it.”

At a raucous Huckabee rally in Davenport, Iowa, today,
supporters of the former Arkansas governor could be
seen holding signs reading “HUCKABEE/CHRIST ‘08."Ý

It is “highly unorthodox” for a presidential candidate
to select a vice presidential running mate who is a
prominent figure in the Holy Bible, says Davis
Logsdon, dean of the School of Divinity at the
University of Minnesota .

But according to Logsdon, if the Huckabee-Christ
ticket makes it all the way to the White House, it
could be historic in more ways than one: “If Huckabee
is elected and then something happens to him while in
office, we would be looking at our first Jewish president.”

2. Jesus is inelegible...he's not a naturalized U.S. citizen.
If they won't make an exception for the Terminator, they're not gonna make one for the son of god.

:P

4. You have to be a natural-born citizen, not a naturalized one
Schwarzenegger is naturalized.

14. Not so fast. Think about the Founding Fathers -- they weren't born citizens, because the US
didn't exist at the time, but of course Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, etc. etc. were not ineligible to be President. Jesus also existed before the American Revolution. Now some might say, yes, but he was born outside of the eventual US -- born in Palestine, as a subject of the Roman Empire.

However, Christians should remember that Christ existed before his incarnation as well: as the Nicene Creed states: "...one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds ... begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made."

Which goes to show that Jesus existed before Creation itself, and was part of the "one substance" of God "by whom all things were made" -- he existed before the future USA was even created, and he took part in the creation of it Himself! So by those lights, he has even more right than the Founders to run for President; he was the original Founder!

20. Wow
Okay, if I accept the premises, I have to accept the conclusion.

Since I'm an atheist, I don't accept any of the premises, but I applaud you nonetheless.

13. Then why would they put him in swaddling clothes--basically ancient diapers?
Oh wait, I forgot about their extended "reckless youth" terms. Most Republicans are still in diapers at 35.

8. He and the GOP must have missed Jesus' platform, check it out.
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 03:40 PM by faygokid
Jesus is obviously a deluded leftist. Here's his platform:

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

15. No, that sounds a lot like Conservative ideology.
We promise to bless you with poverty.

We promise to bless you with mourning,
by killing your sons & daughters in endless wars.

We promise to bless you with meekness,
for we will license the cops to beat you senseless if you're not.

We promise to bless you with a thirst for justice,
for we will continue economic injustice in the courts.

We promise to bless you and make you merciful,
for you will be begging for mercy by the time we're done with you.

We promise to bless you with purity of heart,
for who wouldn't be with Homeland Security spying on them.

We promise to bless you with peacemakers,
also known as the Colt Single Action Army handgun.

And lastly, we promise to bless you with persecution,
for we have reserved a cell for you in Gitmo.
