That's such a perfect description. I recommend she use Eat Your Peas before going to my next suggestion of Don't Go There.

I don't think Obama would use that word in public, in part because he knows there would be repercussions, this is a publicly viewed board too, I think you could represent him and his message well by helping to raise the level of civility around here.

19. i had to be sneaky about the proposal
she was expecting it any day, and I told her it would be a few weeks, she'd been waiting a while.

So I got the ring from the store, then got the new Harry Potter book, carved a hole in the book and placed the ring box in side of it. When she was downstairs in the basement eating a plate of peas in her pajamas, I came in and told her I got something for her.

She was like, what?

I said I got her an autographed copy of the new Harry Potter book. (she had already read it).

She asked me how much I paid for it. (she's very practical like that).

I said I paid $200 for it.

She flipped out and got furious.

She opened it up and saw the autograph on the inside cover (written by me, of course).

Then I said, wait, there's an inscription on the next page.

I flipped open the next page and it said "Paula, will you marry me?"

and behind that page was the carving out with the ring box inside of it.

I got down on my knee and proposed right there.

If I had taken her out that week, she would have known. This caught her completely by surprise.

Linda Douglass also said that Senator Clinton "scolded" Barack the other day, and that's true. Some might say it's sexist to use terms like "eat your pea" and "scold" but I wouldn't agree ~ women don't have to scold but both men and women do it, and we're just as able to inspire as men are. Those things are simply choices.

62. That's Why It's Sexist.
It's attempting to denigrate her by using stereotypical type nagging woman references to make a point. That inherently makes it sexist.

And the fact that you declare that a statement of 'eat your peas' is something a woman would say, makes you sexist as well. You just simply don't see it.

You have. I haven't. Your continued insistence that it is something a woman would say, as if factual and current, continues to make you look sexist.

Just because I'm aware that it's an old fashioned cliche sexist stereotype that is geared towards women, does not IN ANY WAY mean that I believe it to be something that generally only a woman would say. Huge difference there, and it's why I'm not being sexist and you in fact are.

And tell me... What difference is there between the genders that makes a statement of 'eat your peas' only applicable to women? I can't wait to hear your enlightening explanation.

If you seriously believe that I'm a sexist, there is no point at all.

If you are in Hillary's camp, I'm sure you are looking for anyone to blame but HER for sounding like a nagging old woman! She plays the part. She got called on it. Just because I find it distasteful to the extreme that is no comment on my civil rights beliefs.

60. Another sexist remark from him. Of course if she were a man the description would be
forcefully defending himself, fighting back, etc. Funny that this type of talk about Hillary is ok, but not when it is directed at Obama. Or any other minority.

78. Contrary to all the flame throwers on thread ..
My first thought when I read the OP headline was, her message is basic, flavorless, maybe has some required nutritional value, but nothing you can't get from better tasting fare.

Nothing more than a plate of peas.

81. Not canned. No, never!
They are mushy and gross.

I'm with the fresh (preferably) or frozen pea candidate. I cannot stand with those who would advocate mushy vegetables!
