This photo is so cool.
http://www.theage.com.au/ffximage/obama_narrowweb__300x512,4.jpg

It tempers all the revival tent rhetoric.

It makes me think Obama may not be just another weasel in a 'business' suit.

I hate straight people.

Maybe Obama's different.

Hmmm.

Gotta think about this.

30. I think you're taking this a little too far...
...Obama has spent millions on his campaign. I would never call him the common man candidate by my definition.

3. You hate straight people?
Do you mean this in a sexual orientation way, and do you really mean that?

Pretty weird statement. Maybe you can clarify.

8. Fair question. I mean in the '68 sense. Squares.
Xenophobic, 'Ozzie & Harriet', unhip, etc kind of way.

18. That's cool. Squares? That's one I haven't heard in awhile.
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 06:49 PM by faygokid
But I'm into that '68 thing. Worked for Clean Gene McCarthy, myself, as a high school junior.

Good tunes back then, man. Far out.

"Squares" goes back even further. To the time of the immortal Maynard G. Krebs, and his fearful quote, "WORK???!!!!???"

(The "G." stood for Walter.)

9. *sigh*
Nobody is "up in arms" about the photo itself, but whether or not the Clinton campaign suggested Drudge promote it as a "Obama is a muslim" smear.

5. It is a harmless picture of a man in a costume.
It would only bother deep racists.

Who sent it to Drudge, I wonder? Surely that slimeball has the senders email.

I'm voting for Hillary. But don't you think that these sort of things just rip the party apart? Seriously. :wtf:

(Thinking: I really could care less what his religious past is, if Hillary doesn't make it, I will be voting for this man.)

They play similar pranks in our HRC blog.
They're probably thrilled it's getting so much attention.

14. He looks wonderful and I've noticed he looks good in all the outfits I've
seen him in. He's just himself, natural, relaxed. Only uptight weasel RW'ers would be freaked
by some other country's native garb. I guess that is the audience the photo was meant to alienate
on Drudge's site.

17. What you said. And furthermore, he does NOT look ridiculous wearing the outfit, like
bushyboy does when he tries to "go native" on his trips.

(PS: The "go native" slur was directed at bush, and NOBODY else.)

It's a big world out there and anybody can take advantage of wearing the native dress of different countries..and Obama does it with honor.

19. And he's wearing it over his
t-shirt and pants, for gawd's sake. :eyes:

It's not like he's in that and that alone and dancing in some ceremony - not that it would be wrong or bad to do that, but to use THIS photo to try to portray him as a "radical muslin = terrorist" is grasping at straws.

I think he's kinda cute in it, anyway. After all, he does have a bi-cultural genealogy, does he not? And wouldn't he, as we all do, want to experience just a wee bit of his heritage?

Such desperation.

I like it.

25. Far too many people in this country...
...have lost connections with their ancestral cultures. To really know who and what you are, it is helpful to know where your people came from. I think it is a good think Barack Obama has spent time in his ancestral land getting to know his folks.

Barack was in Kenya visiting his African relatives. I saw him with that same red shirt and khaki slacks in a picture with his grandmother and other family. It's cool that he is embracing his African heritage. I respect him on so many levels.
