He lost his father at 2 years old...his mother dragged him to Indonesia with her second husband, and then "dumped him" sending him back to her ageing parents when he was nine years old!

Obama has "REJECTION PSYCHOSIS" ...he was raised by an old menopausal woman (his Grandma and his "Willy Loman" Grandpa ..read Obama's poem to Grandpa in link)....so no wonder he put in his book...he went through a period where he "tested things."

His dad was a jerk who caused the kid a lot of damage, so my FIL took the time to be an outstanding role model for him.

When my FIL passed away my nephew wrote a long eulogy praising his grandfather, and how he was his father figurehead. It was sooo moving it had the audience in tears.
He had someone to look up to, had a male figure in his life who helped him more than I ever knew. I knew how much he loved and respected him, hell everyone LOVED him, but it just was such a loving tribute to his grandfather.
