It really is over.
Short of a miracle, Hillary is going to lose TX next week and it's not unlikely that she'll lose Ohio as well. I'd love to see what her internals are showing. And when that happens, she will drop out. Bill Clinton said last week in Texas that if she doesn't win TX and OH, she couldn't win the nomination. Hillary is anything but stupid and she is a democrat. She won't keep going on a fruitless chase for a nomination she can't win. And she won't damage the chances of dems in November.

Going negative has been a disaster for her. And this latest story about the African dress is really damaging to her, whether or not it was actually distributed by the Clinton camaign. It's leading the news- even the BBC and CBC. Her anger does not go over well and it loses her support and votes.

The rumblings out of the Clinton campaign are growing. Raising money under these circumstances is daunting. She's run out of firewalls.

It really is over.

30. Heck, even I didn't vote for her in VA
I voted for Huckabee. Since it was winner take all on the pug side, and since I knew Huckabee had a better chance of winning VA than Clinton, my vote was more tactically valuable for the Huckster.

By voting to weaken McCain and prolong the pug race, I was really voting for the Dem party, rather than for Clinton or Obama.

At this point in time, I consider Hillary and Obama a coin-flip on electability so I no longer care which of them wins.

Obama's charm, popularity, money, media-love and excellent campaign are now roughly balanced with the helacious beating he will take during the campaign, so I now expect Obama to get exactly as many votes as Clinton would have won... it's a wash. Since Obama has a lot more room to fall that Hillary, and since the same percentage of Dems say they will refuse to vote for one or the other, Hillary remains the distinctly safer bet on paper, but her crummy campaign has to be factored in, which makes it a wash in my eyes.

Comically, recent polling shows both of them losing to McCain within the margin of error. For all the endless bullshit about how Hillary is unelectable and Obama would win 45 states, they are roughly tied, and both narrowly behind.

Thank God McCain is the weakest looking person to have ever sought the office in the TV age... it's hard to even watch him any more.

Whatever. I hope Obama wins, though I do not like him. I don't need to like the President. I very seldom have!

Three supreme court justices, hopefully raving lefties picked to curry respect from mentor Lawrence Tribe. That's all I ask.

You've been a fabulous advocate for Hillary. She couldn't ask for better. I've loved your posts and cheered them on, but in any campaign someone loses. Why would you consider Nader who truly is nothing but an attempted spoiler. And he's now irrelevant. He won less than 1/2 of one percent in 2004.

85. "doesn't support real Universal Health Care" = That's Hillary.
"catering to and being elected by republicans" = That's Ralph Nader in 2004.

The truth of the matter is, in terms of substantive policy positions, Hillary and Obama are pretty close to each other. Neither are perfect, to my mind, but both are a damn sight better than the alternative, and I will happily support either as the nominee.

I don't know what planet you're on where you can float gibberish like "Obama's not a real Democrat" with a straight face. I think you've got a bug up your ass about Obama, for whatever reason- but it has diddly shit to do with him not being a "real Democrat"

69. Good article by John Nichols
http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/02/25/7274/

Serious research into what happened in 2000 concluded that Nader in fact
influenced Gore's platform in such a way that he got more votes than he
might have; and that Nader took more votes away from the Republicans
than from Gore.

Even Gore has said that Nader did not cause him to lose the election.
It's a pity that so many Democrats are so blindly hateful and ignorant
about this whole thing, because Nader has done a lot of good.

49. huh?
to quote US News & World report:

"Through persistence and patience, Clinton has assembled what is probably the broadest CEO support among the candidates, ranging from Wall Street to Hollywood," concludes an article in the most recent issue of Fortune. "Business Loves Hillary," is how the business magazine's cover—which features a photo of a bemused Clinton—puts it. Now a more accurate description might be "Big Business Loves Hillary," since the story is all about how Fortune 500-type business leaders and megarich Hollywood moguls are sweet on the junior U.S. senator from New York. But why is this surprising? To put a twist on a famous Dilbert quote, "Large corporations welcome change and risk-taking in the same way the dinosaurs welcomed large meteors." And in many ways Hillary looks like a safe bet

42. It may be over. But if the Clinton campaign is behind the photo flap....
I just decided for sure today that I'm for Obama but if Hillary's campaign is found to be responsible for making the photo an issue then as we say here in Texas, "Don't let the screen door hit you in the A$$ on the way out!!!"
