With this kind of difference in ratio of votes could it be possible there are a lot of cross over votes?

12. Don't forget the gerrymandering of districts in Texas. I think
that this will be the irony in the numbers, the Republicans messed with the system to favor themselves last election. This time it looks like it is getting thrown in their faces.....

F'ers can outvote Jefferson County and with all the gerrymadering, they screw up our representation in just about every race from state senate up. Bastards.

Apologies to any Dems in Montgomery County, I can imagine your pain is as great as mine.

30. This is getting old, Beetleboot. Don't you get tired of your same old crap?
At least this time, your post doesn't suggest racism as your posts on Saturday evening did. I gave you my responses to your anti-Obama, barely coherent, "cult" rants but it might have been too late in the evening your time for you to respond. Whatever. But this cartoon is tired. -- By the way, this comes from someone who supported Edwards.

19. Collin County is not a lonely place for Dems anymore!
:bounce:

It's hard to explain how isolated I felt in 2000, 2002/2003 (Iraq invasion), and in 2004. For a long time, I had a "W = Worst President Ever" bumper sticker in the back window of my van, and a friend told me I was brave to drive around here with that on my car. :-)

I think it's very exciting!

35. Judgemental much? The Republicans here that I know who are
voting for Obama are doing so because they're as sick of GWB and repub "politics as usual" as we are, and they see in Obama the chance for change.

But yeah, let's not encourage them to join us in getting this country back. That's a winning strategy. :eyes:

37. Are you from Texas, juajen? There is a lot of new enthusiasm here. New voters.
Not just Repubs, even though there are some of them too.
And some of them will be sincere, some not.

But the fact that we have some attention, and that at least ONE of the candidates understands ground game and building grass roots up.
That 50 state strategy, not the "those states don't matter" strategy, will help us down ticket, and breathe some life back in the party.

Goddess bless Howard Dean, Obama and the dem wing of the dem party for that.
Scoff if you will, but any true democrat would see this as a good thing.

28. We are ready to make a difference in Texas! HUNGRY!
People who had eye rolls for political talk a few years ago are now bringing it up on their own.

Obama is the usual subject, and he has been encouraging early voting and registration, and informing new voters of the "Texas two step primary/caucus" procedure. THAT is what grass roots change looks like. Hillary is probably doing so, but she "doesn't do big rallies" for some reason. Perhaps she should - not just for her, but for DEMOCRACY'S sake.

"Enough with the rallies!" she says-- but rallies actually get people inspired to join in the process, when done right. One could say it...RALLIES them.. to the dem cause. ALL dems should learn from this. We need new voters! so HOORAY and a big YEEHAW for the new voters, both young and old alike!

I think folks are just ready for a change. Texas probably will stay red, but we are coming back big time. Ya never know what may happen.

Ann Richards and Molly Ivins should be smiling down on us.

My heart is full with this info.
Thanks!

:hi:

He sees a true embarassment coming in Hillary's near future, potentially a politically crippling one.

He thinks she should salvage her career and move on.

42. I live in Dallas in big republican area. All the republicans I know are voting in dem primary ...
They think McCain is done deal, so feel they have no reason to vote in republican primary. In texas, you request a party's ballot when you walk in to vote. That's how you "register" to vote here. That party affiliation sticks only for the remainder of the election cycle. So republicans (ie those who usually vote republican) who vote in dem primary this year show up in dem numbers. Low republican numbers means few people are voting in the republican primary.

Some great stuff here. Like this:

"One thing that leads me to believe that crossover is only a small part of it the fact that the Obama campaign had a Precinct Captain training in Collin County in Frisco a week ago that drew over 430 people."

Collin County is one of the most Republican counties in the nation. :wow:
