When this is all over, the losing side will have some serious crow to eat.
I hope when it's over that there can be some serious fence mending and a coming together. I'm afraid though that too many are willing to bite their noses off to spite their faces and will take their ball and go home. That goes for both sides.

I am particularly ashamed and disappointed in Senator Clinton's apparent scorched earth, take no prisoners policy as she poisons the water and burns the bridges in a desperate attempt to win the nomination at any cost. She will reap what she sows. Yes, she may somehow win the battle, but lose the war.

Negativeness did not work here in Wisconsin and I don't think it will work in Texas and Ohio either. Obama is a steamroller that has become all but unstoppable by this time. Amazing. Who would have thunk it? It wasn't that long ago that it seemed like Clinton all but had it wrapped up and her nomination was inevitable. Just before Edwards suspended his campaign I had decided to support him, but then, being a realist, I had to choose between Obama or Clinton. I think now I made the right choice.

Yep, reality is a harsh mistress.

Both sides faught hard for their candidate. In the end though, we need to remember we are all Democrats and all part of the DU family. After this is over we need to forgive and forget and move on. We have to achieve the ultimate goal, shared by both sides. TAKE BAK THE WHITE HOUSE!

7. Interestingly, many will claim "victory" very quickly & long before, likely years...
before whomever wins let's say, oh, Barack Obama shall we; has had an opportunity to establish a track record of accomplishment in the WH. The degrees to which he is able to withstand the corrosive effect that awaits him. DC has a way of diluting the very best among us. The proof is in the taste of that pudding. And that pudding hasn't even been cooked yet. Or...

The fat lady may have sung. But even then it won't be over till it's over.

9. Do you really think this OP promotes the goal of fence mending and coming together?
I am particularly ashamed and disappointed in how supporters in both camps attack each other with scorched earth policies.

And I think we all may reap what we sow. We may win the battle if (your candidate's name here) wins and lose the war if the party is so divided that we can't come together in the GE.

You are right. Reality is a harsh mistress.

And with all due respect, I think a piece slamming one of our candidates does not help OUR cause at all.

11. I hope by the losing side you are refering to the Republican
party, and none of our wonderful Democratic supporters. As for winning, it will be if the consitution is restored, and we can visit with oneanother without being spied on. We will be winners if our jobs are no longer sent to other countries, but protected like the oil pipes in the middle east. Don't let this important idea about making people learn their lessons, distract any of us from the real lesson to be learned. Never, Never give up. Demand the end to poverty. And bring them home!!!!!!

12. Well, this is just my opinion. As I said, a month ago Edwards was my first choice,
but I never got a chance to cast a viable vote for him. I am not an Obamaite "cultist" and I have not drank the Koolaide. I prefer him to Clinton. I suppose I could have been coy and pretended not to reveal who I support.

Clinton started this campaign with a huge amount of money and went through it all. If she had the money to match Obama's spending dollar for dollar, I'm sure she would have done it. I am not saying she cannot win the nomination because she still may. I think there are supporters on both sides who will have to eat crow because of their in-your-face attitude against the opposing candidate. It seems to me that now Clinton has become desperate and will do anything to win the nomination that she thought would have been handed to her.

That being said, if Clinton wins, I will vote for her in November. In a week it may well be over. Ultimately Clinton may win. I wonder what the vocal supporters of the loser will say when there is a winner? I wonder if they will be as vocal with their congratulations as they were with their condemnation? How many will unite for the good of the party or how many will pout and walk away?

Without his voice in Congress, who will remember us?

While he only dropped out a month ago, I figured we all lost when he was continually marginalized in the early debates. It's hard to get a message out on a shoestring budget when the media works against you.

16. Obama is going to win the nomination and lose the GE
And that is because the purists are so easily played. Man, the media has this down pat by now, and our base is so stupid they play right into it. He is going to be swift boated with the muslim fears, the liberal fears, the no experience fears. The rethugs win when fear is the watchword of the day, and Obama is going to make that soooooooooo effin easy.

It's 2004 all over again. And when I come back and point that out after the GE I am sure there will be Obama maniacs in moderator's roles, just like there were for Kerry that will be banning people left and right for saying I told you so.

21. I don't agree. I don't expect anyone to eat crow or hold grudges.
Anyone who holds grudges doesn't belong on DU. It's an online forum, things get out of hand, whether it be the primaries or Cindy Sheehan or flag burning. I don't hold grudges, I don't even remember snarky things said to me yesterday. Part of the democratic process is that there are opposing sides and those sides argue. In the end, we're all Democrats and we all want to take back the White House and Congress. I respect others who wholeheartedly support their candidate, even if their candidate isn't mine. Yes, there have been a few who have gone over the line, but they are, for the majority, new and probably won't be here any longer once there's a nominee.

25. People who post at DU are a reflection of other Democrats in general.
Maybe those who hold grudges do not belong on DU, but that is not up to me or you to determine. There have been those on both sides who vitriol for the other candidate has been so extreme that would think it would be hard for them to let bygones be bygones and have a lovefest with the winning side. My mistake in my OP was not maintaining the charade or pretense that I did not support one side over the other and actually dared to express my opinion. Naughty me.

You Obama groupies better hope that enough of Hillary supporters vote for your guy in November. So, I suggest that a better tactic would be to be respectful of senator Clinton and her supporters because we have 3 other alternatives: not voting, voting for Nader and some may even vote for Mccain.

Get it? Nobody will eat crow here, regardless of who wins the nomination!!!!!!!!!!

33. yes!
We are trying to have our unity here and some people are spoiling it. So could all of you who are not head over heels about Obama, or who support another candidate please sit down and STFU or just go away? All of these differing opinions make unity pretty hard to achieve. You are in our way. You had your chance. These differing opinions are the old divisive politics, you know like in the 60's, and we are transcending all of that now and reaching across things. People who refuse to join the unity must be suppressed, for the sake of unity. Otherwise they must be opposed to hope, and are trying to rob us of our precious hope. What sort of evil people would do that? Am I being audacious enough, or do I need to ratchet it up yet another notch before you trouble makers get the message?

35. I won't...nor will many others.
I didn't have to eat it when Biden stepped down, then Edwards, and now, if Hillary does not get the Nomination I will not have to eat crow either.

It's all about understanding that the other side has a right to their own voice, they are an asset and not a hindrance, that you can disagree without treating others badly and that in the end we all want mostly the same thing.

There are a couple dozen very loud disruptors on this forum. There are also a couple dozen DUers who have fallen victim to the chaos those people invoke and have joined in.

However, most of the people on this forum are good people, good democrats, and do not hate each other.

Those people who have no lost their minds in this primary need to continue to speak up VERY loudly when these disruptors try to do their dirty days work.

/rant off

Just my two cents, for what it is worth.

Mending fences will never happen ... too bad. Another 8 years of republican control.
