If the 2008 presidential election were being held today and the candidates were Barack Obama (bar-AHK o-BOM-a), the Democrat, and John McCain, the Republican, would you vote for Barack Obama or John McCain?

Obama 50%
McCain 38%

If the 2008 presidential election were being held today and the candidates were Hillary Clinton, the Democrat, and John McCain, the Republican, would you vote for Hillary Clinton or John McCain?

Clinton 46%
McCain 46%

1. Not to be the bearer of bad news but this poll is heavily skewed to Dems....
Other polls show it close or either candidate leading by a few.

Bottom line: We have to work hard!

3. That's no joke.
Anyone who thinks this election is in the bag is plain wrong. And November is a loooooong way off.

2. I don't get why
they have to show the pronunciation for Obama's name. The normal spelling is easier to pronounce than the phonetic BS they've put.

4. It's common for pollers to have those written out; you don't want some idiot
saying "BEAR-rick OH-buh-muh," as I once had a telephone poller ask during his Senate run.

7. Tell that to Gore. And Kerry....
Wow.

This thing will be decided by a few votes. Guaranteed.

8. At least, it will be settled by votes, even if a landslide.
It won't be settled by polls. That's why we need to work for it.

11. MagsDem, you are spot on.
If one takes two seconds to look at the poll mentioned in this thread, it seems to be a poll of registered voters, not likely voters.

If anyone feels that Obama has the election in the bag because of GE hypothetical matchups in Feb, THEY need to take a vacation. Unknown candidates are almost always way ahead of known candidates at this point, and then they often lose because of an increase in negatives as the campaign goes on (since they have almost no negatives to begin with).

12. And keep in mind Obama is not Kerry
And McCain is an infinitely weaker candidate than Bush 2000, 2004.
