DHL delivery guy just came to my door and this is what he said about the Election......
So I go to my door to answer the doorbell. It is a DHL Delivery guy (white guy who kinda of looks like a typical Republican or at the very least a Union guy about 45 years old) with a business package delivery for me from one of my vendors.

As he points to my "Obama '08" sign taped to the inside of one of my windows that flanks the front door (so that it is clearly visible outside, although the sign is actually inside), he states....."that's the same sign that I have at home".

So I said..."pretty good, hey?"

I take my package from him as he hands it to me (there is nothing to sign), and instead of leaving, he states......My wife and I are really excited about this election. He then tells me that right before the Nevada caucuses, he and his wife were in Reno, and he said he had a chance to go and hear Obama speak. He said, ever since, he's been totally fired up.

He went on....You know, I totally trust and like this guy....and I'm a cynic. I believe that he will change things, and I think that we can't underestimate the likability we need to have for our politicians.

I said, yes, I think the whole world is waiting to see what we will do during this election.

He said.....yep, they really hate us out there!

I retort...... Just imagine the next State of the Union Address. Now that will be exciting, won't it?

He said......finally, I'll be able to listen to a President who can talk!

To conclude, it was a great political conversation with someone that I wouldn't have ever imagine.

2. Yeah Senator Obama sure can talk
I guess I'm a white guy who looks like a typical republican too. I haven't voted for a republican since 1976. What do you look like?

9. Based on the area that I live in, bordering Castro Valley in California....
it is a relatively conservative area of Northern California, considering....and yes, this guy looked like a relatively conservative guy who might live in Stockton or Tracy or Castro Valley. In my eyes, he just seemed that he would be a McCain voter, might it not be for this war.

I may certainly be totally off base......

12. I live in an
incredibly red county in possibly the reddest of states (Mississippi.) I don't mean to be ugly but the menfolk in the county (big bush supporters) seemingly all look alike in at least a slight way. And they do all have the same haircuts and keep their facial hair very similar. There are only about 10 names in the county (slight exaggeration.)

4. Great story Frenchie.
It is really happening all around our country. People are beginning to realize that Obama offers us choices we did not know we even had.

We will move beyond the dark days of this administration. What a moment. What a feeling of hope.

8. Total trust in any national politician? Better off teasing a lion with a pork chop tied around your
neck.

Guaranteed disaster.

10. He stated that he is normally a cynic.....that was his description of himself,
not mine.

Obviously, this guy came away from that Reno rally believing Barack Obama and what Obama was saying.

I'm imagining he also heard Obama when he stated that change would be hard, and that he, Obama, is not perfect.

So, I don't believe this guy is setting up himself for anything. I believe that he was speaking relatively as far as politicians are concerned.

22. Obama will be the most honest politician in over 220 years of American history
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 05:42 AM by Major Hogwash
Do you know why?

Because he will be the first black man to work in the White House that isn't a cook or a server.

Everything he will do as President will be watched by everyone in the world.
Every single thing.
Even the little, insignificant things.

But, all of the big things that he will do will also be seen, as well.

Embrace change.

We're going into the next century with or without you.
We've had enough of the 20th century - we're finally going to cross that bridge into the 21st century that Bill Clinton talked about so many years ago.

Bill had started to lay the foundation to build a bridge to the 21st century, but Bush blew it up, along with Iraq and the Constitution and our trust in government.

11. Interesting conversation at the gas pump this morning...
I live in Waukesha County, WI. It's the most heavily Republican part of the state and it went for Bush be almost 2/3 in 2004. White, middle-aged guy is pumping gas next to me at the BP station and he sees my Edwards '08 bumpersticker.

He asks me who I voted for in the primary, since Edwards was out. I told him that I almost voted for Edwards as a protest vote, but decided to support Obama instead. He nodded and said he did the same thing, adding that he really liked both of them on the issues.

Miracles happen!

14. I'll bet you're even more glad...
You had that sign up there now!:D

That IS encouraging, indeed. And I'm sure he's not alone. I'm convinced all those Repubs voting for Obama now aren't doing so merely because they think he'd be the weakest against McCain. Many of them really do like him.

B-)

18. Yep....I'm glad that although our primaries are over, that sign is there......
But as I live nearly at the end of a dead end street, so it doesn't get a lot of play.....

but because I live in the hills and have two large decks (11X30) visible from quite far, including the major 580 freeway, I wish I could put a giant Obama or "Change to believe in" banner on one of the decks.

I suspect that might be illegal....although I have never inquired to find out.
