"Automatic Delegates"="Protect America Act"
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 04:14 PM by jenmito
Why are the Clinton people calling superdelegates "automatic delegates"? Of course I already know why, but it's so Rovian to change the name of something to their benefit to misrepresent what it means. :eyes: Old-school politics. Let's get rid of this type of politics/politicians already!

1. This is from her "Delegate Hub":
"As more voters make their choice for the Democratic nomination, there is growing interest in the facts and myths about the race to reach 2208 delegate votes - the number required for a candidate to secure the nomination with Florida and Michigan included. The Obama campaign is claiming, without precedent or justification, that automatic delegates (commonly referred to as "super delegates") should switch to Sen. Obama en masse based on arbitrary metrics, with the aim of tilting the delegate balance in his favor. The fact is: no automatic delegate is required to cast a vote on the basis of anything other than his or her best judgment about who is the most qualified to be president."

2. Republicans are voting in the Democratic Primarys
Why should the popular vote, which includes Reps and Indys ,dictate the superdelegates?
They are allowed to influence the assigned delegates which IMO is too much influence already.
The superdelegates should ONLY reflect the percentage vote of registered Democrats.
The Republicans may be only voting in the Dem primarys to screw them up.

3. That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, or
something like that.

It doesn't matter what you call them. They have always voted however they wished, whether for political gain or pure integrity. There is no reason to start imposing new rules on them in the middle of this contest.

While no one was watching Obama now has 93 'automatic delegates' (Senators/Govenors and Congressman) versus Hillary's 94, so they have stopped talking about it.

Hillary's lead in superdelegates are in appointed DNC delegates - math and links in thread above
