16. Tip 'o me Hat, to Lone Star.
I am always amused that one of the most pleasant, friendliest sentences in Lithuanian sounds like this:

FUCK-danai, mano BITCH-uli, SHIT-am sustitikime ASS-ame LAME-ingi.

(To tell it straight, my dearest friend, meeting with you is sheer joy)

Since this primary season it's all been down hill.
We were mostly more civil than this when Bev "the unmentionable" was stirring things up.

7. On DU or in general?
I have acquaintances the use that word to punctuate every sentence. The use of f-ing as a substitute is pretty lame, since, what's the difference?

8. It got here long before I did...
I know some people who compete in its usage and punctuate every sentence with the same. I try to save it so it means more when I do use it... but that's just me.

It doesn't bother me at all. Condescension bugs the fuck out of me though.

on a couple of Ralph Nader threads. Normally I don't but it seemed appropriate at the time.

14. Fuck, I don't know.
It's derived from German, just like most of fucking English. I assume it's been around as long as the rest of the fucking language has been around.

seriously,
I can't ever remember it not being used.

Guess that doesn't say very good things about what circles I've spun round in eh?

21. Perhaps it is a generational thing
Personally, I never heard the word until I was 17. In my family, the word is still not used. I like to think there are more effective ways of communicating.

22. I left the US in 1978 and returned 1994
when I came back it was a major culture shock. The best way I could explain it to people is that when I left the United States 'mother' was not a hyphenated word.

Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 08:30 PM by Warren Stupidity
by the way do you think you will melt or something if you actually spell the whole word out?

As long as we are on the subject of the usage of the word 'fuck', did you know that the English tell people to 'fuck off' while we americans tell them to 'go fuck yourself' or more directly we will say 'fuck you' while the Brits it seems prefer to tell you to 'fuck off'?

I found it fascinating myself. 'Fuck off' is far less hostile. It can mean 'go do nothing' as in 'we just fucked off all day'.
