107. Hillary forgiveness
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 03:29 PM by youngharry
I'm sorry, I just don't happen to be in the forgiving mode at present. Senator Clinton is on a scorched earth rampage and will say and do anything that will help her win. As a former athlete, there is a saying--"it's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game." She is playing a dirty--anything goes game.

Unfortunately, Hillary thought she was a shoe-in for the nomination and therefore her votes in the Senate were to cover her ass against a Republican opponent, regardless of the consequences. Her vote on Iraq, on Iran (Kyl-Lieberman Bill) and her repeated statements that she would not hold GWBush accountable for his crimes against the Constitution and the American people were positions aimed directly at moderate Republicans to vote for her in the general election.

Unfortunately Bill Clinton did the same thing with GHWBush. Bush 41 was not held accountable for his crimes (Iran-Contra, BCCI, etc) and the Clinton Administration swept it all under the rug. If it wasn't a green-light for his son to commit the sins of the father and go well beyond those crimes, I don't know what is.

George W. Bush needs to be held accountable for his crimes.

Hillary must be held accountable for her pre-meditated votes.

Pay attention. STOP THE GREEN LIGHTS.

17. when Obama=Jimmy Carter,
Hillary 2012. And I think if such an event were to happen, Hillary could actually take the nod from an incumbent president. Because she, unlike Ted Kennedy, she hasn't inflicted a mortal wound on herself politically. ANd if this were to happen, I'd be out there to vote Hillary in the primaries again. But I hope Obama is successful, i mean he IS a democrat, so thats a help.

59. I always loved Hillary...
...and I always thought the wrong Clinton got elected president. But her campaign has just pissed me off. As I have said before, when she ran for Prez she should have tried to ignore him totally, showing him great respect but focusing on the issues and the changes she would make to save our country after 7 years of Rethug destruction. She should have pounded Bush and his Rethug enablers and the Rethug presidential candidates constantly and without mercy - she had plenty of material to work with. But that stupid Mark Penn, who is the Bob Shrum of this millenium, thinks that this is 1992 and we want a return to that era. No, we don't. Americans want to move ahead. And Bill's big mouth and quasi-racist remarks from him and other staff members just pissed off a great many Dems. I was truly hoping for a Clinton/Obama ticket. I think that would have struck terror into the hearts of every Rethug neocon and Christianist in this country. But now I am supporting Obama. I only hope Hillary will campaign for him and the Dem party. Enough of this devisiveness from our party members. We must get rid of these incompetent Republican morons once and for all. They have destroyed our country, and we must unite to rebuild it. The majority if the American people are on our side. Let's get started by pulverizing that lying, corrupt media-ass-kissed John McCain.

60. She inspires me.
I supported Obama in our caucus, and I support him still, but if Hillary were to get the nomination, I'd be proud to vote for her.

On caucus day, my 9-year-old daughter brought a library book home from school for me. It was about Hillary Rodham Clinton as First Lady. We read it together, and I became so choked up that my daughter asked me why. I tried to explain what an amazing woman I thought she was. And she is. As a 44-year-old woman, who was 4 weeks old when Kennedy died and 4 years old when Dr. King died, I finally got to see a woman and an African American as the two top contenders on our party's ticket. I only wish that somehow I could have both of them.

67. Here's something to think about
for all who hate Clinton simply because you support Obama. Even if Obama wins, Clinton will still be a powerful player that will be desperately needed by his administration to clean up the mess of the last eight years. Obama can't do it by himself...he will need a lot of help.

Let's think about that before writing the next "Hillary is a bitch" post.

69. She's my Senator and I've met her one-on-one at a fundraiser
back shen she was first running in 2000.

Personally, she is not the cold fish people perceive her to be on the TV screen. She came across as very affable and smart in our encounter.

84. FINALLY... thank you very much
the poll numbers do not well represent the fact that Democrat turnout for these votes has been MUCH higher than Republican.....

40% of 2 million (Dem) is considerably more than 45% of 1 million (GOP)

ASSUMING that the changes in registration and party affiliation are as reported, and that turnout for the general election mirrors the interest etc in the primaries...

ANY DEMOCRAT SHOULD WALK THIS THROUGH TO THE WHITEHOUSE

.............the GOP is working the BLOGSPOTS in an attempt to split the party and grow hate between the candidates and the candidate supporters........

EVERY SUPPORTER SHOULD LET HIS/HER CANDIDATE KNOW THAT THEY EXPECT A CLEAN AND HONORABLE CONCESSION SPEECH PUNCTUATED WITH "AND I PRAY THAT ALL OF MY SUPPORTERS NOW BACK THE WINNER OF THE PRIMARY--- NOT JUST IN GENERAL AFFIRMATION BUT IN LARGE AND ROBUST WAYS...
BECAUSE ONCE THE DEMOCRATS SWEEP THE COUNTRY, THEY CAN GET TOGETHER AND DIVIDE THE SPOILS"

91. I am sure they will
do that.

I think they should not just say that they "pray" their supporters do that but urge them to do so and be active themselves in the GE to ensure that the nominee wins and that we sweep the US House and Senate and all of the States´Houses and Senates.

Imagine our nominee, along with those who also ran this time, Edwards, Biden, Dodd, Richardson, Kucinich, Gravel and Gore and Clinton and Kerry and Carter and so one. Every last one of them sweeping all 50 states towards that goal.

We need to tsunami the Republicans all over the USA from sea to shining sea.

She has always been the engine in the Clinton machine as any strong woman is in any good marriage.

Her public life is a model for getting things done, in the midst of a Conservative crapfest. Her record speaks for itself.

with an economy (which has been fueled by robbing our own home equity and massive debt), Serious conflicts that need resolution, loss of prestige on the world stage, health care issues and host of other problems we face, she could lead. I am an extremely strong supporter of Obama. I do know that Senator Clinton would make a fine president. In the coming months and years it will be necessary to strongly support the our nominee. the Job of restoring America to what our framers intended by returning to the rule of law will not be easy. The republicans have a blood-lust for power and will not hesitate to seize it yet again. We must work together. I have had my issues with her and I will continue to be vocal. No matter how passionately I feel toward Barak I will fund politic and vote proudly for Hillary Clinton if she is our presidential nominee.

105. It's a shame
in a way that we have a competent African-American man and an equally competent woman running at the same time. One (Barack) is just more dynamic than the other, unfortunately for Hillary.

But because of the closeness of the race, there will be barbs thrown at each other. It is unavoidable, it's a competition after all. Its silly to not expect each side to take advantage of perceived weaknesses in the other and use those against them. I was hoping one or the other would emerge as the winner sooner though. You just know that if Obama wins, the GOP machine will be trotting out all the campaign jabs that Clinton fostered on the Obama camp, or visa versa, and use Democrat quotes to slam the Democrat contender.

So this thread is great! To show that all Democrats respect and admire Hillary Clinton, and we understand that she may have made mistakes, but her progressive accomplishments, even in the endless right wing fog of war against her, outweigh her blunders. And she would still make a great president, and failing that should be a big part of any new Democratic administration.

117. HERE HERE!!!!!
I'm an Edwards man, and, frankly, when J/E dropped out, I toyed with just writing him in. However, I watched a portion of the 19th debate and the entire 20th debate and thought how proud I was of these two candidates. I was like...DAMN, we DO have better talent than the GOP. I like Hillary's health care plan and, unlike many people it seems, she strikes me as sincere and feels the health care issue in her bones. Obama strikes me as someone who really feels community activism in his bones. I confess, I wasn't really a Hillary lover (still some things I wish she was different on). But after seeing these two debates, I'm very proud of Hillary and Obama. If Obama is the nominee, I will gladly pull the lever for him. If Hillary is the nominee, likewise.

One final thing. I asked my brother, and Ohio Air National Guard member, which one he is voting for, and he told me Hillary. His reason is that she really worked hard to make healthcare available to all Guard Members (whether or not they served in Iraq specifically). That told me two things: 1) as I've already said, I'm proud of her and 2) it underlined with double underline and bold who it is who really supports our troops.

And you know...for all the intensity and at times name-calling in these two campaigns, I take much pride and solace in the fact that we do NOT engage in any of the acerbic and just plain idiotic name-calling like the GOP showed with crackpot Bill Cunningham (before the McCain rally yesterday). So, I will put Hillary's or Obama's judgment and character up against McCain or any GOP candidate ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!!

126. Great Thread
If Obama gets this nomination in the end, I believe that all Obama supporters owe Hillary Clinton a big pile of thanks. Her presence in this race, her continuing to hammer him on this issue and that; the "kitchen sink" strategy, if you will, has caused him to become a better candidate. If he had cakewalked to the nomination as the punditocracy erroneously had him doing on the eve of New Hampshire, he would not have been as strong. It's like a butterfly exiting the cocoon. The very struggle against the constriction of the cocoon are what gives the butterfly's wings the strength to fly. Clinton has given Obama wings! And I predict she'll be a political force to be reckoned with for many years to come.
