Obama supporters: What does he have to do tonight?
I say continue to do what he always does--be cool, confident, and don't go on the attack. In short, be presidential. If anybody goes on the attack it should be Hillary. He should refute her attacks (if she does attack) but with in a Reaganesque "There you go again" sort of way.

5. He has to not lose.
He has to not be baited into any traps. There isn't an argument Clinton can make that doesn't have a solid rebuttal.

7. He seems to be fighting back more immediately and directly in the last few days.
It will be interesting if he continues that tonight if she attacks, or even if she doesn't, if he brings up the issue. Given that he's been fighting back, she may be reluctant to risk a smack-down on national TV.

8. Stay away from humor, don't look or sound cocky, just stick to policy and steer it
back to what's in the country's interests whenever anyone attacks him.

15. I think the humor helps
if lightly sprinkled throughout the debate. He has a wonderful wry sense of humor.
It makes him more attractive.

19. Well, I took the "likable enough" as a clear joke, but no one else in NH apparently did--
that's the kind of thing that can derail him. He needs to keep it self-deprecating, if he's going to do it at all.

24. I agree. That one did seem to backfire.
Often though he can be quite funny. I have noticed that the commentators at least
seem to say nice things about his humor. It shows that he is relaxed and at ease
with himself and the forum.

22. Also he needs to counter the "offensive add" BS ...
which was about an issue that is actually based in fact, against Hillary's "pro-choice" add in NH which tried to paint Obama as being not pro-choice when EVERY group makes it clear he is. That was MIS information. Boy have we had enough of that.

11. He has to be prepared to answer tough questions
with detail. He has to be cool under fire. And he has to be confident and competent
all the while looking presidential.

If he does that. He wins the debate and he wins the nomination.

12. Stay cool, calm, and presidential.
One of the great things about being the front-runner is that you can play conservative football, so to speak. All he has to do is hold his ground and not take any of the bait that Hillary will dangle in front of him (in the form of the 'kitchen sink' slate of attacks) and she'll come off worse for it.

getting out of character would not be a wise move.

20. What he already does. Be himself!
Anyone who has read his books knows plenty about him. This "he is an unknown" talking point is so right wing. He is a great person and smart as hell. I can't WAIT to see him against McCain. My biggest fear is the media. They frame everything. As long as we have this 'horse race" they are forced to showcase both our brilliant candidates. the moment it is McCain vs. Obama, I am afraid the overlords will give the word and Obama will disappear off people's TEE VEES!!!

Thank God for the on line community. We will not let them get away with it.

changing from praising him to scolding him and mocking him.

Mostly just be Presidential and ride the tide.

43. not a supporter, but agree
all he has to do is not get flustered, no matter what she says

frankly, the best way to put her off the deep end would be just to not acknowledge an attack - leave her standing there ready with her followup to his anticipated defense -

maybe after she tries again just look at her quizzically and say "can we move on to something of substance?"

he has managed, through some indeterminate alchemy, to get firmly in the driver's seat, and all he needs do is coast
