Can we all agree that there should not be restrictions on free expression at the convention?

Boston 2004 was a textbook example of what a Democratic Convention shouldn't be:

No passion. No politics. No telling the truth about the other candidate.

No firing up the troops by a clear and positive vision of what we're going to do in office.

A pointless ban on peace signs.

And after all that, we got our ass handed to us in the fall.

Can we all agree that we should learn from the failure of 2004 and let our convention be Democratic AND democratic?

Dissent and free speech aren't our enemy. Lack of enthusiasm is. 2004 proves that a bland convention leads to certain defeat.

Because I can think of a particularly striking moment of passion at the democratic primary in 2004. Two actually, one more than the other.
