Clinton's hail Mary pass: Finally taking back that Iraq vote
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 11:28 PM by book_worm
and her pitch for women voters. In the end she knows her base has been chipped away by Obama and she felt she needed to remind women why they should vote for her--because she's a woman.

8. At least....and even then.......
It wouldn't have made a difference to me. The first call was the wrong call. Anything after that is 20/20 hindsight, and not good judgement or correct leadership.

9. Negated by her obvious lies about her tax returns.
People are tired of Clinton lies.

10. No suprise that many Obambots...
are still making excuses to bash HRC even though they all wanted her to disavow her vote for IWR.

11. Didn't that sort of undermine her claim that she would be better at foreign policy?
At this point in time, she's in a no win situation with that vote. If she apologized and/or admitted she was wrong months ago, it would have been fine. But saying that now - after she has said her experience makes her stronger on foreign policy and she's "ready on day one" - hurts her more than it helps. JMHO

14. That pass was incomplete...
When all the other candidates who took part in the IWR vote said they fucked up months ago; having to drag a semi-sort-of-maybe-almost-an-apology-but-not-really out of Hillary simply won't fly.

No 11th hour conversions can save her now.

I like Hillary - she put up a damn good fight - but it's over. Time to move on and think about what is best for the party.

15. Showing weakness to the GOP is like jumping into a pool of sharks
with a cut on your arm .... she's not stupid. She has previously stated her regret in a way that blamed GW and the GOP, instead of other Dems (and, yes, or herself). It's smart on her part - and, factually correct. The way the whole IWR unfolded was much more complicated and OBSCURED by the lies and manipulation of Bush & Co. than any here seem to remember (or, conveniently, forget). Yet, everyone persecutes her for it.

Big picture people ... Dems (even those who vote for the IWR, including Kerry, Edwards, etc.) aren't the enemy.

she should have led with (on Iraq, though she didn't really apologize so, whatever). I never in a million years figured she would go down like this.
