Apparently Obama doesn't even care to get votes
in the rural areas of Ohio. In the last couple weeks I have received at least 10 calls and mailings from the Clinton campaign. Bill Clinton was in the area two weeks ago and Hillary will be here Wednesday. As of today I have received 0 calls from the Obama campaign and no mailings I never saw a TV ad until tonight. I have never heard of any visits even near this area. If he doesn't care about us now he sure as hell won't after he gets elected.

3. Interesting
Surprised to hear that...people I have talked to in other parts of Ohio have said that the Obama campaign is much more omnipotent.

Where in Ohio are you?

6. Belmont County in Southeast Ohio
We must not have enough money, enough population or the wrong population I guess. In 2004 Kerry was here twice Bush and Cheney were both here a couple times. Like I say Obama must not care for our support.

24. They have an office in Ashland...is that near you?
I got a call from the office in Ashland asking if I could come out for the weekend and volunteer (but I'm taking a bus to Columbus instead, with DC for Obama).

Maybe they just haven't gotten to your phone number yet, or called when you were not home. On the online calling system, we have been instructed not to leave messages right now for Ohio...we just mark people as not home if they don't answer.

4. Hi there
Are you serious? Because his campaign hasn't personally called you, you think he doesn't care about you? Please tell me you don't mean that. I have received 0 calls, or mailings from either candidate here in Oklahoma. However, I have no doubt that both Hillary and Barack care very deeply about the American people. They simply can't call every single person in the U.S., time does not allow for that. I would love to get a phone call too, or at least see them both in person, get a mailing, it would be great, not sure it will happen, but I still like them both.

I don't mean this in a negative tone, just trying to let you see another point of view. Peace;-)

8. You're kidding you get no automated calls
no mailings. We certainly do here but not from Obama, that's my point if he doesn't have any interest in the Ohio Valley now he certainly won't come next year.

Nothing at all, I get nothing. I do enjoy watching their speeches and debates though.

I think you miss my point, and maybe that's my fault, I didn't make myself clear.

I'll say it this way, hypothetically, if I received phone calls, mailings from Barack, and not Hillary. It would not change the way I feel about them both. It doesn't elevate one of them over the other, considering the vast amount of U.S. Territory they have to cover. Or vice versa as you said. I do understand it may appear lop sided to you since you only recieved something from one candidate, however, it doesn't translate IMO to one caring about you more than the other.

9. That's funny, because I'm in Texas (Austin to boot)
And I've not received a damn thing from Clinton. I've received a call from some ex-UT football player endorsing Obama, but not anything else from him. Even then, that's more than likely because my number is listed in the university directory. I've also noted that I've seen probably 10 Obama TV ads as compared to 2 for Clinton today.

12. You have a legitimate concern.
My question: Does Hillary answer all of your questions the way you like? If not, please give Barack a chance!

I'm actually amazed that you haven't heard from his campaign. In Wisconsin, I had the exact opposite experience--four calls from the Obama campaign and 0 from the Clinton campaign (2 robocalls and 2 actual people calls--full disclosure).

Anyway, I was surprised that I didn't hear from the Clinton campaign because I was a campaign donor and supporter of my state Rep. who supports Hillary--so I would have thought that the campaign would use her donor/supporter lists to contact people. But, I got nothing!

Oh well.

Barack has an amazing ground game--but maybe your particular area is one weak spot in his whole campaign? Who knows?

Keep in mind that the election is still a week away--maybe they'll be calling you closer to March 4th?

31. I don't think it's silly it just shows me if
he ignores a whole region of a critical swing state he will ignore us if he gets elected. This post also shows me enough about his supporters that they don't care either. This never started out to be partisan but right away the Obama people get all defensive about any hint of criticism. Ohio is a swing state and we (the area not me personally) always get a lot of attention in the election but for whatever reason Obama does not care to or think he has to show any presence here. It's not just me I don't give a damn if he comes here or not but if he only wants the big city votes fine. Like I said last election Kerry showed up here twice and Bush and Cheney were in the area at least twice. Back in 1992 Bill Clinton and Gore were in the region three times I believe and so was the Chimp.

18. As far as the calls I don't really care for them
I do read the stuff that comes in the mail. I don't know if Obama has even been within a hundred miles of here, this is Appalachia. People talk about a possible recession we have been in a recession for like 30 years. We joke around here that Southeasten Ohio, the norhtern panhandle of WV and eastern PA should all secede from our states and form our own country then we could maybe get foreign aid.

It's pretty damn pathetic if someone bases their vote in a presidential primary on whether or not the candidate visits, or bombards them with campaign calls and mailings.

about the Clintons because of NAFTA, we have been hurt by it more than any area of the state. You don't even show in your profile where you are from, I am proud to be from SE Ohio. I will not vote for Hillary, Edwards is still on the ballot and judging the mentality of the Obama robots I will not vote for Obama. What a bunch of thin skinned nitwits that can't even take a little constructive criticism without getting nasty, talk about shrillness.

34. "Her shrillness"??
And that "damn hellhole" you're talking about happens to be where I'm from. The hellhole where, despite poverty rates which in some areas have climbed to over 25%, they keep voting Democratic -- like the voters in Scioto, Pike, Adams and Brown Counties who have twice now voted overwhelmingly for Jean Schmidt's opponent in the last two elections by as much as 2 to 1 margins. The same hellhole that gave Ohio it's Democratic Governor, Ted Strickland.

I'm sure your relentless sexism and snobbery is a real credit to Obama supporters everywhere. But it's up to them to tell you to can it, because being a supporter of "Her Shrillness" from that hellhole you so detest won't count for much, I'm sure. Are you a fine example of what to expect from the party of hope and unity? I've seen some good, longtime DUers TS'd for much less than what you spew on this forum every day.

We have beautiful country and a low crime rate even with the poverty that tells you volumes about our people. Since you are from the area you know people aren't exactly Clinton supporters. I could have been swayed to vote for Obama but judging him buy the people he has supporting him I will not vote for him now or in the GE. These people think they are just going to walk in the Whitehouse. They haven't seen anything yet, so far he has been the darling of the MSM. We saw just a small preview yesterday with the guy calling him Barrack Hussein Obama.

Hellhole was harsh. That area has been decimated economically for years, and the meth lab invasion isn't helping anything. I have no idea why Ohio is still polling for Clinton after Bill signed off on it's death certificate with NAFTA.

40. Didn't you get the memo "Bill is not running"
In the immediate area I don't think NAFTA has had much effect, it's the WTO, what really hurt us was Asian countries dumping steel at below production costs. Another thing is the environmentalists have damaged the coal industry. Our industry has put billions into technology to burn coal with little pollution. But no we export it to China and they burn it with no environmental controls at all, (news flash here, it's all the same air), if we used it here there would be a fraction of the pollutants and it would help us get off oil. They have absolutely no labor or environmental standards in other parts of the world how can we compete with people making 50 cents an hour in China without this area being a damn hellhole like you say. Obama has praised NAFTA in the past the same as Clinton has and both their positions are the same now. That's why I can't support either one, the MSM selected Hillary and Obama as our front runners and ignored the others like Biden, Edwards and Kucinich all of which had more experience than Obama and Clinton combined.

38. I'm very proud of our people
They're hard working, decent people whose struggles seem neverending, yet they refuse to give up the fight. I think you will be surprised at how many will turn out for Hillary Clinton. I was an Edwards supporter before he dropped out (way too soon, IMHO) but am now supporting HRC. Her long-standing support of Strickland and his confidence in her tell me a lot.

Anyway... if Obama supporters believe the criticism and questions they've heard so far are tough, they are in for a rude awakening. That free ride from the MSM is about to come to a screeching halt.
