CNN: polling indicates INDs go to Obama in matchup v. McCain
"Independents are crucial swing voters. They give McCain a solid lead over Clinton, according to the New York Times-CBS News poll. But independents abandon McCain for Obama.
If Obama's the alternative, McCain's support among independents drops from 52 percent to 36 percent."

1. That's what I've been saying since I got on the board. Picking Obama is a no-brainer for the dems
But somehow, someway, the dems may find a way to fuck things up, again, in picking a shitty candidate in HRC.

2. This is why--contrary to the screeching of Obama-bashers--it is actually a good thing
that Barack Obama is using independent voters to add to his lead in open primaries.

5. We should not kid ourselves. McCain will be a tough opponent. But this is one
reason Obama stands a pretty good chance of picking off a couple of "purple" states to give him the winning margin. The other factor is that McCain will go into the general election with some softness among Republican religious conservatives. They will not be as likely to come out to vote against Obama as against Clinton. That is not necessarily fair but it is factual.

6. It you look at various polls it would appear that they are all over
the place in a head-to-head matchup between Obama and McCain. Averaged out, they seem to favor Obama, but not by a very large margin.
