Fight Cornhole Cornyn--NO SWIFTBOATING OF VETERAN CANDIDATES
http://ga6.org/campaign/stopthem/8w3dxdi20ktk7in?qp_source=stopthem%5fnonsigners
From Rick Noriega's email I just got.

Dear Friend,

John Cornyn's surrogates demanded that I release my military records -- but I'm not going to just give my records to Karl Rove or Cornyn's Republican hatchet men. Instead, I'm releasing my records to all Texans today.

I'm proud of my service to Texas and to our country, but the truth has never stopped attacks on veterans.

Stop them before they start. Tell Cornyn and his cronies we will fight back against any distortions or smears on my service to our country. Sign the petition today!

Texans want straight shooters. Like so many Texans, I'm proud and honored to have had the opportunity to serve, and I welcome honest scrutiny of my record.

After reviewing my military records, John Cornyn and all Texans will learn the truth: I've served for 27 years, including service in Afghanistan, as "Operation Jumpstart" Laredo sector commander on the Texas-Mexico border and as incident commander of the George R. Brown Convention Center refuge during Hurricane Katrina.

1. Agreed!
But does this include no swift boating or denegrating the military service of ALL candidates or just this one? How about the ones we don't like much? Can we assume by this email to which I agree that all veterans have been proud to serve their country no matter when they served and that calling certain people "hanoi john" or "john hanoi mac" (insert your own here) should be off limits?

2. I think he means all candidates
In my opinion, no candidate's military background should be smeared. I find it deeply disturbing that some DUers have no problem with making light of McCain's POW stint. Having worked with someone who for almost seven years shared the Hanoi Hilton with McCain, my respect for individuals who have gone through that and survived it is enormous.

3. Let's ask "Cornhole" to show us HIS military records in turn. Tit-for-tat.
Oh, sorry, he doesn't have any. Silly me.

TX-Sen: Noriega Releases Military Records, Looks Like A Hero

The Republican Party of Texas, and by extension, Senator John Cornyn, has requested that I release my military records to them. I am astounded and outraged at the implications of this request. Over the past few years, some Republicans have conducted the most dishonest and disreputable attacks on veterans that our nation has ever seen.

Today, Noriega released his records to the public and we found out just how laughable this scheme really was. You see, it turns out Noriega is a bona fide hero, a decorated officer, and in possession of numerous commendations and exemplary performance reviews.

A quick tour of the records leaves no doubt about Noriega's record of service. I count page after page of top marks, and paragraph after paragraph of glowing praise. You can see the full records over at Noriega's campaign website, but here's just a few choice quotes, as a sample:

"His dedication and loyalty to his mission and his men drove him to exceeding the standards in all assigned tasks. His dicipline and moral courage are displayed by his graduation from the Masters Fitness Trainers Course."

"1) Outstanding in dedication to his job and mission.
2) Unexcelled in loyalty.
3) Integrity is above reproach.
4) Selflessly gave of his time and energies."

"He is one of the best lieutenants I have ever known in 35 years service."

Sounds like the kind of guy you would want in the Senate, right? Compared to John Cornyn, a lap-dog Republican, I think the choice is pretty clear.

These facts, however, won't stop Republicans from smearing this distinguished veteran's record. If you haven't done so already, sign the petition and stand against Swiftboating smear campaigns!

8. Cornyn sucks -- and he sucked as a district court judge too
And as a justice on the Texas Supreme Court, he really really sucked.

And now he's a sucky senator.

And the people who work for him suck.

How is this little rant for my 1000th post?

9. Well, it certainly doesn't suck
But Cornyn does, and I hope Noriega kicks his nose right out of shrubbie's ass. That would certainly unsuck!
