Many Americans, not us on DU, will not like this and will be scared.

edit to add:

This statement needs clarification:

“I will slow our development of future combat systems.”

This is ok with me, but not the majority of average joe americans.

You should say that this came from a guy with nothing but pro-hillary videos.

And, there is something missing here. I would like to see the whole video.

Personally, I would love to see us get rid of nukes. We've got enough to destroy the world... what? 100 times over?

We increased our strategic arsenal and decreased our non-strategic arsenal; it was essentially a wash (up about 3%).

he's just taking a stand and decisively from the looks of that video. It's not just our nukes he's addressing, it's the components involved that everyone needs that he's looking at stopping as well.

e.g. getting the eff out of Iraq.
Nukes are bad, anyway. Only the wingiest of wingnuts want more nukes.

14. I agree, too. This video has actually made me reconsider if Hillary is the more electable of the two
I wrote about it just a little earlier today: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4801449&mesg_id=4802059

My problem isn't with his positions, but with the political idiocy of laying them all out there in this hamhanded way, in a way which does not present strength or security. How many times do you think we'll see this clip on the airwaves once Obama is named the nominee?

20. Possibly they might wonder
but I think it all depends what kind of "war mood" the country is in by next Fall.

Then again, knowing how the right wing can distort and magnify things, you've probably got a valid concern.

16. Where is the problem!
We don't need to produce any more nuclear weapons since we already have plenty to do the job, about 9600: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/22523

The military does need oversight badly. It can not police itself. Watch the Pentagon Wars, based on true story to see why.

Most of our weapons are off hair trigger alert, and we will always have the boomer subs to hit back at a surprise attack.

So, what is the major issue with the vid?

18. Huh? That's just more reason to vote for him!
First of all, he'll get us out of Iraq which is what just about every American wants. Secondly, he won't spend all our money on weapons and war and nothing on the economy and improving Americans' lives - another thing most Americans want. I don't see any problem with this - he could use it as a TV ad!

28. I disagree, I think most americans understand that to cut spending you must cut something
and everything he proposed was reasonable.

He should have qualified the "slow development" statement somehow but I don't think it will cause any serious trouble against Mc, 100 years in Iraq, Cain.

30. Actually, that's a perfect thing to say.
As opposed to saying "I'm going to cut the defense spending".

The way he said it, people can get behind to a great extent.

Said the way I put it, people will instantly think "OMIGOD! He's gonna leave us defenseless!!!!"

So what he said is absolutely the best way to say something that needs to be said.

40. SENSIBLE PRIORITIES CAMPAIGN
You're correct in stating that more info and/or clarification is needed. DU'ers not familiar with the Sensible Priorities campaign can gain more specific info about the call to cut about $60 billion $$'s of pure waste out of the roughly $500 billion Pentagon yearly budget. By the way, this $500 billion does not cover the expense of the war in Iraq and Afganistan. Sensible Priorities campaign worked with all of the Democratic Presidential Candidates to bring this issue to the forefront of the campaign, for more info check www.sensiblepriorities.org and www.sensiblepriorities.org/pdf/korb_report_Finalb.pdf .
