1. The best thing I can do in Idaho is donate money to the national campaign
Which I do. If I can donate over time all the way up to the personal limit, I will.

2. The nice thing about volunteering is that it doesn't count towards a monetary donation. ;)

http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/phonebankmap

Phonebank from home and help get out the vote in key states.
Over the next few weeks, several states, including Texas, Ohio, Vermont, and Rhode Island will hold primaries and caucuses. Take a moment to encourage voters in those states to get out and support Barack Obama. You don't even have to leave your home to pick up the phone and reach out.

All you need is a few minutes, a phone line, and a desire to help change the country.

15. lol
look, I've pretty carefully looked at what I can do right now.

I can't phone during the week because by the time I get home its past 9pm Central, and I can't afford long distance fees - I'm poor. I can't phone on the weekend because when I'm not working all week, I work graveyard shifts on the weekend, which means I have to sleep during the day and be at work after that.

I get to post here a lot because of the nature of my jobs, not because I have free time.

Trust me, the best thing I can do is set aside as much money as I can each week - which is sometimes no more than ten dollars, and donate to the campaign to help them connect with people who do have the capacity to be on the ground that I don't have.

In the mean time... I'll keep doing all the things I describe in my post to the person below you as my contribution to a better tomorrow.

11. I guess I should clarify:
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 11:16 AM by Political Heretic
I kind of interpreted the OP to assume that people weren't doing anything but talking. There are a lot of ways to choose how to support a Presidential candidate. Here in Idaho, where I am a full time Graduate Student working towards my PHD, with MSW in Social Work, there are better things for me to do than campaign in the second most conservative state in the country.

That doesn't mean I sit on my butt. Not only am I working toward my PHD, not only did I pursue my masters in a field totally devoted to helping other people, but I've run a statewide campaign as campaign manager, I've worked as a community organizer, and right now in addition to work that pays the bills, I work twenty hours at a Community Action Agency that helps low-income and homeless individuals and families find housing and meet basic needs.

I'm doing all this while recovering from bankruptcy less than six months old and a personal crisis that consumed most of my past year.

So... I'm doing my bit for king and country.

There'll probably be no more work from me this cycle.

16. Hey fellow campaign manager!
Statewide campaign manager previously.

It's a whole different world of stress, isn't it? Maybe a local one isn't quite as much stress as statewide - on the other hand, local politics is ruthless - so it could be even worse! :)

17. My candidate and all of our committee members thrive on competition
We eagerly await our opponents taking off their gloves. We have nothing to hide, nothing in our pasts to be ashamed of.

Let them bring it on.

Our papers aren't officially filed yet. The deadline is March 6. I'm keeping things quiet on DU to protect peoples' privacy, at least for now.

23. No, and I doubt I will at all this year.
A few reasons but the one I'll share is that no candidate, or even party, really wants me representing them. ;)
