Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 11:43 AM by southernleftylady
I think I just heard on Democracy Now that Hillary gets the most McCain gets 2nd Biden 3rd and Obama 4th... but I am running around with two sick babies so I could be mistaken but does anyone know the real numbers?
Thanks!

1. What do you mean by "the war machine?"
Soldiers? Employees of defense contractors?

9. Yeah, but even then you have to look
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 11:46 AM by Occam Bandage
at who's making the contributions. Are we talking about low-level employees watching a speech on TV and then sending a few bucks? Or are we talking about executives sending $2,000? Or are we talking about executives holding fundraisers that bring in $50,000? Those are all very different things, and yet they'd all be recorded as "defense industry contributions." The same goes for every other industry, too.

6. That's the problem with sources like opensecrets
Some of the categories are so broad. "Defense industry" can mean anything from soldiers and rank-and-file employees sending $50 all the way up to executives giving $1000s.

8. BTW, gateley.
I know you're a big Biden fan. Has he endorsed or giving any hints at what his future plans are?

Thanks.

15. I'm not merely a Biden fan, I'm a member of the CULT! :-)
Recently (few days ago) he said that he felt it would all shake itself out, and that the Super Delegates would be falling in line with the peoples' wishes.

My sense is that he won't endorse, although I would have thought that about Dodd, too.

Again, just the other day (Biden's always talkin' ya know) he said he does NOT want to be VP or SOS, but if he were approached with the argument that his participation could help the nominee and the party, he'd of course have to revisit his stance. He doesn't foresee that happening, though, so I don't think he's too worried about that possibility.

I believe him in saying he has no interest in those positions. I don't think it's in Biden's makeup to have to toe the party line on issues he feels strongly about.

Thanks for asking!
