Obama Campaign Hits Back Hard Against Hillary's "Security Mom" Ad
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 10:54 AM by Zueda
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/02/obama_campaign_hits_back_hard.php#comments

On a conference call with reporters just now, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe issued a withering reply:

"We don't think the ad is going to be effective at all. Senator Clinton already had her red phone moment -- to decide whether to allow George Bush to invade Iraq. She answered affirmatively. She did not read the National Intelligence Estimate. She still, curiously, tries to suggest that it wasn't a vote for war, but it most assuredly was...
"This is about what you say when you answer that phone. What judgment you show...She, John McCain and George Bush gave the wrong answer."

1. How about the subtle racism in the ad?
It's the same imagery and pushes the same buttons as home alarm system ads: look at your precious little white girl sleeping peacefully. If you don't buy our alarm/vote for me, you're at the mercy of some scary black man.

Not saying that it was intended, but for those seeing sexism everywhere, this is at least as plausible.

Don't put the scary black man in charge Mom!!:scared::scared::scared:

Hillary is a cesspool dwelling Rovian race baiter and a George Bush class fear-monger.

28. You miss the point.
Many of Clinton's supporters seem to be finding sexism *everywhere.* But what's good for the gander, is good for the goose.

Excellent retort and it turns the conversation back around to her weakest point, the IWR.

I like it!

15. You just
throw words together, then call it a sentence and a reply. It usually makes no sense whatsoever.

14. you obamabots are getting so caught up in this obama thing
you are losing your own set of ideals and morals....you are looking for the boogey man when there is none. Your use of racism in everything the clinton's do is getting stale....the truth about obama and him using the race card is slowly leaking out and I just hope there is enough time left so we stop this man....you wanna know why we say obama is bush LIKE not lite, he too was inexperienced and did not and I have said this over and over again.....Bush and now Obama both do not have the aptitude for this postion.....

20. The bonus is that Obama has the responses all ready when McCain runs the same campaign against him
I know that Clinton is running the only campaign she can run at this point, but she's ensuring that if she were to pull the nomination out of a magic hat, she'll lose the general. She's running an ad against Obama that McCain could run against her.

Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 11:41 AM by rocknation
that she made the exact same mistake all over again on the IRAN vote.

Obama is responding swiftly, concisely, most most important, factuallY, which reduces the attacks to malicious, petty non-issues.

P.S. "Knowing" world leaders doesn't automatically mean that they like and/or respect you.

The audience seems to like the answer. They clapped and there were a few yells from the back.

If "Senator Clinton" decided NO to the authorization I bet a sufficient amount of fellow dems would have followed her to defeat it.

35. Clinton's ad is a retread from the Mondale v. Hart primary in 1984...
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0208/Mondale_Red_Phone.html

The same guy that made this ad made the Mondale ad. Maybe they'll rerun the "Daisy" ad in Pennsylvania.

Hell, maybe they'll run an updated "Tippecanoe and Tyler too" ad in Puerto Rico.
