Poll question: Has Obama been throughly vetted?
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 11:51 AM by rucky
Is it safe to say that if the Hillary camp had anything else substantial on Obama, we would've heard about it by now?

1. Is it also fairly safe to say that if Hillary's oppo research...
hasn't found anything else, that the GOP's team hasn't either?

2. No. Clintons are just too nice.
Wait'll McCain, Rove, and crew get started. His inexperience, lack of military background, support of gun control, real estate dealings, every bit of dirt they can find or make will be used. It's going to get ugly.

And we'll try to swiftboat McCain. There'll be ugliness all around.

6. I voted "Yes" but I have to wonder if Hillary's camp is up to the
challenge. But, on the other hand, in my heart of hearts, I'd say the Clinton camp gave digging up dirt the old college try. As desperate as HRC seems I would think if she had a smidgeon of dirt it would be in public view by now.....with so few days left 'til March 4th.

12. The Rezko thing is the only one that could stick.
though it really hasn't yet. Any new information, or a decision by the MSM to saturate it in the news cycle could be pretty damaging, IMHO.

7. He's not vetted until he's been through the right-wing attacks
So this is an unknown in which you place your faith.

And comparing to the Clintons? That's just plain silly.

8. What's down the pike, then?
besides the whole "making shit up" thing that the GOP is so good at?

Are you saying that Hillary's oppo research isn't as good? Or have they been pulling punches? Cuz that would be silly.

16. It would certainly be taken to a new level
The coming "examination" by the repugs would be FAR more in-depth to be sure. You would doubt this? As I said, comparing to the Clintons is silliness - pure naivete -- but if you differ in this perception, that is your choice.

10. Are you saying the RW oppo research is better than Hillary's?

THEN....

She's either

A) Incompetent, and unable to compete with the GOP

or

B) Hasn't been able to find anything about Obama that she can use.

Trust me... If Hillary hasn't found anything, the GOP won't either. The Clintons are as good at that game as anyone.

15. I disagree
No one is a good at oppositon research as the GOP. And let's not forget the GOP's speciality of swift-boating --- that is totally their game.

21. Absolutely right. As someone remarked the other day, in the 2004
election the RW made a coward out of an actual war hero and made a war hero out of a deserter. If they can't find something on Obama, they will make something up. It won't matter if their accusations are true or not, they will be spread far and wide before they can be refuted and the seeds of doubt will be sown. Make no mistake about it, things will get nasty in this campaign, regardless of the Democratic nominee, because the Republicans are desperate to maintain their grip on our government.

23. The big difference is that Obama answers these things immediately... Kerry let the swiftboating go..
..for weeks before he started responding.

17. Not incompetent at all
Although many on here think she's the devil and would do ANYTHING TO WIN, you really have no idea what the right wing is going to dig up and use. Senator Obama is going to have to get in the sewer to fight with them. I think he's up to it but it's going to be really ugly.

I predict that this poll will align w/ the 2 camps. Approximately 25% will vote 'No'.

27. We haven't seen much of anything yet from the dark side.
Wait until Clinton suspends her campaign. Then we will start to see where the rovian attack machine is going to go. Obviously they are going to play the muslim/black thing, and I'm sure they will resurrect the rezko stuff, all of which he has dealt with so far. Expect new crap not yet seen.
