http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/02/16/black-superdelegates-threatened-pressured/Black Superdelegates Threatened, Pressured
By SusanUnPC on February 16, 2008 at 10:59 AM in John Lewis, Jesse Jackson Jr., Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Civil Rights

I’ve been wanting to get to this story for days. Now I simply must because the reports are coming in fast and furious about just how ugly this is getting — and the race card is getting played, by blacks against blacks, in the most vicious ways. The Obama campaign? They’re pushing the racial divisions, sending a misleading NYT story on Lewis everywhere. Obama and crew WANT this ugliness to continue:

Obama Co-Chair Jesse Jackson Jr. is THREATENING superdelegates (”Jesse Jackson Jr. Threatens Colleagues as Pandemonium Breaks Out Over Lewis“). Rep. Jackson is threatening to harm their own reelections!

“Many of these guys have offered their support to Mrs. Clinton, but Obama has won their districts. So you wake up without the carpet under your feet. You might find some young primary challenger placing you in a difficult position” in the future, he added. … (A.P./Google News)

Obama is buying superdelegates with his “big money reach.” A comparison:
Obama: $694,000 (40% of his superdelegates)
Clinton: $194,000 (12% of her superdelegates)

<><><> http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/2/14/194821/203 <><><>
“Some folk getting death threats because of the emotionality and the excitement and the lack of wise enthusiasm that we see rampant in our community…. How

can we have a conversation about this campaign or any other issue where we are divided in the community without the kind of name calling, the hater talk, the traitor

talk; the sell out talk? …. How do we have a civil, loving dialogue when there is a divide in our community?”
The fuse is lit. The flame courses its way toward the Obomba. Will it explode before he gets the nomination or after? Will the Democratic party destroy its chances

before voters ever get to the booth?

Obama Buying Super Delegates!!
by linfar, Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 07:48:21 PM EST

Take a look at who is buying super delegates:

Obama: $694,000 (40% of his superdelegates)
Clinton: $194,000 (12% of her superdelegates)

This folowing article is cross-posted from:

Seeking Superdelegates

As the Democratic Party's superdelegates decide whether to support Clinton or Obama, will they take into account the $890,000 they've received from the candidates?
By Lindsay Renick Mayer

<><><>

Although Obama’s campaign and the MSM have pushed the story that Rep. John Lewis, the legendary Civil Rights hero, has switched from Clinton to Obama, his staff says that that is not true. But Lewis is under unbelievable pressure, and he is the victim of vicious robo-calls (and Missouri’s Rep. Cleaver is also getting nasty pressure):

says some — such as John Lewis — have become the victims of “robo-calls.” In Lewis’ case, the calls said “very, very derogatory things about him.”

“I had a person in my district send out a newsletter, for which I know he didn’t pay, distributed primarily in the African-American community, in which he suggested that I had been paid by Sen. Clinton to support her. I don’t know if there’s anyone who who hasn’t taken some grief for supporting Sen. Clinton.”

For more, see Taylor’s story, in which she astutely observes:

Vote for Barack Obama, or you just might “find some young primary challenger” stepping in to take your job. It’s hard to know where to start, but considering Jesse Jackson Jr. has done this sort of race baiting before for the Obama campaign, I cannot say that I’m surprised. There is, however, something so offensive about his threat that it smacks of the same type of hierarchical control African Americans, especially John Lewis, have always fought against, only this time it’s a black man in the position of power telling people how they must use their vote or else.
<><><> <><><>

Cleaver notes that some members of Congress who support Clinton are experiencing threats — not from fellow members but when they return home.

They have been told that they would face opposition in their next election if they do not support Obama, and Cleaver says some — such as John Lewis — have become the victims of “robo-calls.” In Lewis’ case, the calls said “very, very derogatory things about him.”

Cleaver, too, has experienced some troubles.

“I had a person in my district send out a newsletter, for which I know he didn’t pay, distributed primarily in the African-American community, in which he suggested that I had been paid by Sen. Clinton to support her. I don’t know if there’s anyone who

THIS IS Despicable!! Absolutely the MOST DANGEROUS! IRRESPONSIBLE! UNDEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN BEHAVIOR ...EVER!

This will be the end of Mr. O_Heavens...
I Challange the Obama fans to give this a read...what do you think?
A MUST READ!!! MANY informative links...

This is YOUR Candidate...YOUR Choice...is this how you want to claim YOUR victory? In fact...honestly... tis Very sad.

http://republicansforobama.org/?q=node/359

E-mail to send to Texas Republicans

Attention All Texas Republicans and Independents!!

On March 4th, Texas Republicans and Independents will have an opportunity to end Hillary Clinton's (and Bill's) presidential ambitions once and for all!

Since Texas has on open primary, Republicans and Independents should sign in at their polling place and request a Democratic ballot. They should then vote for Barack Obama. Even James Carville admits that if Hillary loses Texas, "she's done!" Republicans can help make this a reality!!! Just think, no more Clintons in the White House!

Voting Democratic this one time will have NO effect on your ability to vote in the next Republican primary or obviously on your vote in November. Since John McCain has the Republican nomination locked up, voting for McCain or Huckabee at this point will have no effect on the outcome on the Republican side.

After you vote during early voting or on March 4th, you ARE NOT done! Report back to your regular polling place at 7PM on March 4th to sign the Barack Obama list for caucus delegates. In a little known Texas voting quirk, 67 delegates to the Democratic convention will be seated because of these caucuses. This is a full one-third of the total number of Texas delegates. For Hillary to lose, she has to lose the primary votes AND the caucus votes.

I urge you to vote against Hillary Clinton by voting for Barack Obama. Please forward this e-mail to all your Texas Republican and Independent friends so that we can help ensure the Clinton's defeat on March 4th!!!

32. If people don't think some Obama supporters are pitting blacks against blacks
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 08:26 PM by Chovexani
They aren't paying attention. Before the Borg contingent gets up in arms, note that I said SOME.

I've seen it with my own eyes and been a victim of it, from friends and family and people I respect. I didn't even say I was supporting Clinton (I didn't up until very recently, I was and am a Kucinich supporter). Just me saying "I can't support Obama because there are things about his campaign that trouble me" was enough to get me called Uncle Tom, Condi and every name but a child of God from black Obama supporters. I have had people I've loved and respected for years tell me only "self-hating house niggers" would vote for Clinton. I have heard black folks who are loyal progressive Democrats start parroting Coulterian memes about the Clintons. And if you think this is isolated, again you are not paying attention. Members of the CBC have been targets for this hate. Good men and women who have fought hard for civil rights, marched and put their lives and careers on the line for us. It doesn't matter who you support, there is a basic disrespect at work. All the women in my family (and my family is mostly women, I like to call us a tribe of Amazons) are Clinton supporters and have been targets of this, from friends and co-workers.

The irony is, when the race first started and Obama was being attacked over "not being black enough" and having to prove his street cred on black issues I defended the hell out of him. It was ridiculous then and it's ridiculous now. I'm sensitive to that kind of BS because I've faced it my whole life (please read my "Acting White" thread in the African-American group). I thought it was disgraceful the way he was being attacked. Now, months later the shoe is on the other foot. It's disgusting.

Something is going on in the black community and I'm scared this campaign has done a lot to tear it apart. I just hope when everything is said and done that we can come together and mend fences. I don't have very much hope, though.

Yes, as of today I am supporting Clinton. However, the aforementioned behavior was going on back when Kucinich was still in the race and I was actively donating and campaigning for him.

If you are trying to accuse me of being a "Hillbot" or some shit, you are def. barking up the wrong tree: ask any longtime DUer in either camp, since you can't search posts. I have huge issues with Clinton, but less than I do with Obama, and that is why I support her. I would also direct you to the post I wrote gushing about how awesome Obama was when he spoke at the DNC in '04 except the archives don't go back that far.

So I will ask you this: do you have anything substantive to say to me or are you going to insist on trolling with that particularly apt screenname of yours?

41. This strategy you're repeating isn't gaining traction.
Clinton surrogates such as Johnson are not great objective sources either.

48. Maybe the change Obama refers to is imposing Chicago-style politics on the rest of the nation.
It works ok for us, but I doubt very many of you want anything to do with it.

68. I'm betting that lots of them will stay stubborn just because they don't like being pushed
That's how most of the local Dems responded last fall to Clinton's state campaign manager virtually ordering county and legislative district chairs to get behind the obvious winner. On either side, really lousy strategy.

African-American Super-delegates Stick With Hillary Despite Threats from Obama Fans

So it's not just on the internet and in the caucuses where you will find Hillary supporters being harassed, intimidated and threatened. African-American super-delegates are also targeted by the subscribers to the new Politics of Hope and Unity wing of goddess only knows what party. This is exactly the kind of behavior that is feeding the alienation of many Democrats, especially women.

The more things change. . . .

Politico: African-American superdelegates said Thursday that they’ll stand up against threats, intimidation and “Uncle Tom” smears rather than switch their support from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to Sen. Barack Obama.

“African-American superdelegates are being targeted, harassed and threatened,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Mo.), a superdelegate who has supported Clinton since August. Cleaver said black superdelegates are receiving “nasty letters, phone calls, threats they’ll get an opponent, being called an Uncle Tom.

“This is the politics of the 1950s,” he complained. “A lot of members are experiencing a lot of ugly stuff. They’re not going to talk about it, but it’s happening.” Rep. Diane E. Watson (D-Calif.), a black lawmaker and Clinton backer, said the intense lobbying for Obama would not alter her vote.

“I’ve gotten threatening mail,” Watson said. “They say, ‘Your district went 61-29 Obama and you need to change.’ But I don’t intimidate. I can hold the ground. … I would lose my seat over my principles.” . . . Black superdelegates are getting heavy pressure from such groups as ColorOfChange.org, a grass-roots organization backing Obama.

Your first link leads to a dead story on what is obviously a pro-Hillary site. So much for objectivity on that one:eyes:

Your second and third links do not mention anything about strong arms tactics, threats, or anything else that you claim. Instead it is simply updates on how much each campaign is spending on super delegates. Yes, Obama has spent more, gee Wally, he has more to spend:eyes:

The rest of your paranoid, bullshit ranting is simply not backed up by anything approaching reality. Yes, Cleaver has come out and said somethings about people getting pressured, but a few clues for you. Cleaver, while a fine Congressman for his constituents in our state, is a rabid Hillary supporter, has said on more than one occasion that he would do anything to see Hillary elected. He also has a known tendency to exaggerate on occasion also.

Oh, and Lewis has actually switched sides, or did you not catch his interview the other night.

Look, I realize that desperation is setting in for you Hillary folks, and you're going to throw anything and everything just in the hopes that something sticks. But at least have some sort of integrity to use sources that are valid, objective, and actually make the points you're trying to get across. Otherwise you just look like a ranting loon.
