I just finished voting early here in Denton County, TX
I got there at 6:15 and didn't get to vot til 7:30. There were still people in line after I left.

I will be out of town Tuesday evening and so won't make it to the precinct convention. My wife, who will vote Tuesday after taking me to the airport, will be at the convention.

2. So does that mean your vote won't count?
Because you can't be there Tuesday? The rules seem so convuluted.

4. They can come to the caucus
Anyone who votes in the Democratic primary - early or on March 4, can come to the caucus. :)

5. No, that's not what I said. I asked if the OP's vote won't count
because he can't come to the caucus.

8. Voting will count.
More delegates are assigned from the caucus lists.

12. They both count
But you can't come to the caucus unless you have voted in the primary.

There are two steps to the Texas primary/caucus hybrid.

Step one: The popular vote. At stake - 122(?) delegates

Step two: The caucus (precinct election). At stake - another 67(?) delegates

This does not include the Super Delegates.

10. NO it does not
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 09:39 PM by ashling
The rules really aren't complicated at all. The number of delegates apportioned to each candidate in individual precinct is determined on the basis of the vote tallies from the primary election. No offense, but why is that so hard for people to understand?

The fact that Hillary didn't realize what the rules were really eats into her "ready on day one " arguement.

Anyway, I voted for the person on the ballot who would make the best president: John Edwards

18. Every time I would get inspired by
One of the other two they would do something boneheaded or really piss me off.
And since I would just as easily vot for either of them in the primary, and in the general there is no contest: I'll vote Democratic, I just voted for John.

21. I hear ya. Believe me
I rethought my position 10 days after he dropped when our state party told me that, although we collected the sigs to get him on the ballot, the campaign never filed. (PA) :(

You spoke for me today. Thank you.

11. Collin County here
I voted last week. There was a line - but not too bad since I went around lunchtime. Isn't it great to have this problem. Texas needs to deliver this one for the O-Man!

14. Tried to vote early yesterday around 4:00 but did not because there was
around 200 people in line and didn't have time to wait. Back in '84 on the day of the primary I was out of town all day so didn't get get to vote but that evening I attended the Democratic caucus (I was for Gary Hart) and was able to vote even though I hadn't voted in the primary. I remember I was there around three hours and wound up a reserve delegete for Hart at the Texas party convention. I have never had any trouble early voting before, and the crowds here (San Antonio) for Obama are phenomenal, although I must say the crowds for Hillary are also large.

17. The turnout reports compared to years past are mind boggling.
Will you be able to go on Tuesday?

22. I will definitely vote on Tuesday. Wild horses couldn't keep
me away, as they say. I expect the lines to be long but if I go during the day it may not be so bad.

19. We voted early in Dallas County (Valley Ranch) last Saturday
There were probably 6-7 other people there voting, and a few people were arriving as we left. I was heartened to see a number of children accompanying their parents - always like to see people showing their kids how to do their civic duty.
