I was born at Oak Noll Naval hospital. Now defunct of course.

Congrat!

My eldest went to College Preparatory High school in Oakland.

That is the best High School that I have ever experienced.

Berkeley HS is good too. My youngest is in one of the small schools there.

Over 200 people showed up tonight for the grand opening of our local Obama office here in PA ~ we've only been in the space for two days (phones aren't even in yet; we've been using our cells) and there are over a hundred coming for leadership training tomorrow, and at least that many more who have volunteered to do other things. It was a great party ~ and, you're right, what an inaugural we're gonna have next year!!!

Fort Worth on feb 28.
Amazing event, and apparently about 10-11000 in the arena, with another ~10000 in the hall overflow.

People were fired up, and when he asked who had voted early, about 90% of the hands shot up.

She has some right wing xtian co workers, and were telling her about all the email BS - knew she wanted to call me to debunk them. I got to go through the madrassa/Koran/national anthem and more, and then the Hillary is a murder bull too. Cleared all that up. I'm an equal opportunity debunker.

Bush years have made her more politically astute, and so she knows more about how right wingers work. Fear and smear.
We laughed about their craziness, and their fixation on scandal, so I told her about how Johnny Mac met Cyndi - she said "Sounds like Newt Gingrich!"
So proud of her for that. All these years are finally making their mark.

thought of leaving this world to my children and grandchildren, in the hands of men like Bush/Cheney.

It is a feeling of peace and something else I can't quite put my finger on.. to dream of an Obama Presidency, a world based on hope and not fear, a resurgence of the America we know we can be. That is the stuff that drives many millions of us and fuels our support of this transcendent candidate.

My favorite is the B&W outdoor pic of the Obama family -- the one where Barack is kissing his daughter's head. It looks so unscripted, I almost feel like I'm intruding on the scene.

What beautiful photos, what a beautiful family. Wouldn't it be somthin' if a future poll, say around the year 2050, found President Obama to be one of the great ones, like Washington or Lincoln or Roosevelt or Kennedy. Some of us had hopes back in 04 for Kerry, but that keynote speech at the DNC showed me that America could do better. As that keynote speech ended I found someone I wished were running for President INSTEAD of Kerry ....and today, HERE HE IS!!! I am thinking that when President Obama gets to work, We The People are gonna roll up our sleeves too!

I knew you could ...

Where in anything Obama has said or done that makes anyone think he's going to "change the world"? Or this country for that matter?

I guess the public does have a very short memory, or perhaps we're so desperate for change that denial is making a great many to see things that just aren't there. Whatever it is we're setting ourselves up for another fall.

Obama is not addressing and not actively repudiating the Bush agenda. He refuses to say that we won't have troops in Iraq in 2012, refuses to even think about taking Insurance Companies out of health care. He voted for the Patriot Act and capitol punishment without Congressional oversight for immigrants, his record is pro-corporation over unions, he has not taken a stance on impeachment, or call for a new investigation of 9/11, totes Brezhnev Bresinski as his foreign policy advisor, makes no mention of bringing us back to a gold standard and eliminating Federal Reserve Bank and IRS, in reality there is nothing progressive about his record.

I've watched in awe as pragmatism turned to giddy optimism and rationality was abandoned for false hope. How could it be that when one knows of the horrors perpetrated by these cretins they believe they would suddenly relinquish all their power to someone they haven't already decided was the best shill to forester their agenda?

How far removed is Obama, Clinton or McCain from Kucinich, Paul, Gravel and McKinney? Light years. Yet, here we have masses of people, again like they have before, lining up to have their hearts broken one more time.

What makes people think that a government - if one can even call it that any more - that has murdered 3,000 of its people in broad daylight, and as many if not more in its aftermath, lied us into an illegal war that has cost 1,000,000+ lives, tortured, raped, murdered, looted a nations treasury, blatantly stolen elections, wouldn't project through their means of controlling the media a false prophet?

And of course that's even if there should be an election. For any criminal organization that has gotten away with what these cretins have already, are capable of anything. And considering the times we're in, with all that's sliding away, we don't have any time to waste. For it may already be too late.

I know of no other method more effective and faster. Powers-that-be are interested in one thing - commerce. We have the power to stop commerce in it's tracks. We do that they break.

March 19th is the latest call for a General Strike, but unless 20 to 30% of the nation takes part it won't mean much. Of course if we could pull off a 90% like Gandhi did in India we could actually get our country back. But as fragmented as this country is, that's not happening. It would be nice if all the so-called progressive sites would co-ordinate one, but even among them I see division.

But in reality I'm not really hopeful. The problems that have not only been neglected but instead made much worse by bush&co policies may have already pushed mankind beyond the fail-safe point. We've raped Mother Nature to the point I don't think she's thinking to kindly about having us around much longer. How we're going to deal with the food shortage, peak oil, climate change when we still have people blithely driving SUV's and living lives of mass consumption is beyond me. And these aren't things we have to deal with in the future, these are things we should of planned for generations ago - and we didn't - in most cases we did just the opposite of what we should have. And when the crash comes it's won't be gradual, it will be sudden and harsh and the Paris Hilton wannabes and the clueless masses aren't going to know what hit them.

I still remember what you posted the day of the SC primary, when you were afraid that hope will once again be taken away from you, and when I felt like cuddling you and offering each other a shoulder to cry on. And remember my hands literally frozen with anticipation and dread when the polls closed and I was ready to hear the first indication of the results. And the HUGE relief when right away MSNBC declared Obama the winner by a substantial margin. Your beautiful pictures and this :hug: are a remembrance of that day. And hopefully in anticipation of many good days to come.

and Hillary doesn't thrill me much either...but the thing is (feel free to bookmark this for November) I don't think he can beat McCain in the general election. DU is a pretty insular community and hardly representative of most Democrats let alone Americans in general. I've been accused of being a racist because I don't think Obama hung the moon (not true, I'm not) which makes me wonder what word describes people who support him with absolute zeal only because he's an African American and to hell with qualifications or electability.

do you have, you are claiming superiority in your experiences and your thoughts, just like Hillary Clinton does. The thing about "experience" is that it is way overated....and sometimes one can enclose themselves in a bubble and actually start believing that they have a corner market on what is what, in otherwords, start believing their own bullshit.

You telling me that "you know I'm right" is more evidence of this self importance you place on your opinions.

At the end of the day, it will not simply be me and you that will decide what America is ready for, and for that, I am thankful.
