Will media slobber slow down Obama?
Some of the media is euphoric about Obama. This bodes well for the short term.. Obama gets lots of free advertising from it, but when they go over the top like they are now, critical minds are going to kick in.

Take the recent McCain statement about Obama saying he would send troops back into Iraq if Al-qaeda set up bases there, where he thought he would gain some points by schooling Obama that they were already there.

Get this:
Obama turns around and says "They wouldn't be there if we hadn't invaded" and everyone goes wild, and exclaims how this guy is so good at deflecting attacks, and how this shows that McCain will never be able to get the upper hand, etc.

It was pretty sickening to me. Because, I realize that Obama really countered nothing. He didn't answer the question, he did the equivalent of, "Oh, yeah? Well YOUR mother..." with a gang of third graders (media pundits) cheering him on.

Obama was inexperienced enough to fall into the trap in the first place. He should not be answering hypotheticals. He may learn that, I *hope* he learns that if he is our nominee, and that looks quite plausible at the moment.

But since he did, he should answer the question in a more thoughtful way, like taking a chance to inform the country that the Iraq militias have turned on Al-qaeda and they are quite capable of taking care of themselves. Or, maybe mention that removing US combat soldiers from the theater will no longer draw Al-qaeda into the region.

Obama may be teflon, but people are beginning to notice how he deflects the attacks. People will soon be concentrating on the future, not the past. Clinton wants that, McCain wants that. In matters of the economy and foreign policy the question "What are you going to do next" cannot be adequately answered with "I wouldn't have been here in the first place" forever. Third graders have a short attention span.

1. Listen up and learn. Obama vs. McCain? No contest. He's not
teflon, but people like you have never bothered to research him. All you have is negatives. Well, start now, because I'm not doing it for you, and it's about time.

Obama is a good man. Why you're trying to characterize otherwise is beyond my thinking.

5. I didn't characterize him as a bad man. I characterized him as avoiding
a question he could have, and should have, answered.

3. He's such a cool guy. It'll be like having Hawkeye Pierce for president.
Except for the handling of emergencies.

7. In a real 3 AM emergency, he might need to consult his trusty advisor: Tickle-Me-Elmo. (n/t)

4. As long as obama can tell everyone again that he was against
this war from the beginning, and that senator clinton voted for this....over and over, and on and on he goes but never says anything further.....why? because he cannot go further. he has no plan. he forgets with all his smart comebacks it is as though he forgets all about the men and women over there serving. You know it might be a damn good idea that he deal with the real world and real time.....

if you obamabit believe he is going to get the troops out of iraq by december 09 then please stay home if you have not voted in your states primary....obama is so damn naive and especially his obamabots to even believe this...hell obama would have to over rule the generals on teh ground the joint chiefs if they said we cannot pull out of iraq.....if obama over rules them there would be a damn revolt in teh ranks and he would have generals retiring and quit in revolt.....

At least HRC has left the damn door open to listen to the generals and the joint chiefs on Iraq..If I were HRC I would tell obama that you are not being truthful with your supporters....If you or I become the president we will have to play the hand we are given on Jan 20 2009 and then we will have to listen to teh generals and the joint chiefs.....you need to be truthful with your supporters....

8. Bullshit! That Tired Meme Is Getting Old
Go to his website and see for yourself what his positions are and then come back and argue what you disagree with. You just shit on every thread because you somehow find yourself in a minority. You're acting like a petulant child.

11. It is a good thing you are not able to advise anyone in the campaign then.
The childish name-calling and churlish demeanor is a recipe for disaster. Take a break and come back when you can think a little more clearly.

9. The media love affair with Obama has already worn thin
they've been going after him for the past two weeks- with little if any success. And you clearly know very little about what is and isn't effective regarding politial maneuvering. Defending yourself from a political attack isn't about answering a rhetorical gotcha question; it's about hitting back, and so far he's proving to be adept at that. He's certainly better than Hillary, who's disasterous at it. And Obama talks in great specifics. Your claim that he doesn't, demonstrates that you need to inform yourself.
