Kenyans tell Hill: pay us in cows for Obama insult
rag though it is, you gotta give the Post credit for its front pages...

March 1, 2008 -- WASHINGTON - Furious Kenyan tribal elders said yesterday that they may slap Hillary Rodham Clinton with a fine for her campaign's alleged role in publicizing photos of Barack Obama wearing a turban - and it must be paid in cows, goats or camels.
The elders, steaming over the Obama photo smear on the other side of the world, announced plans to convene a traditional tribal court to deal with the matter.

The court could require Clinton to pay a fine in livestock, which is of great value in the far-flung Wazir region of Kenya. The photos were taken there during a visit by Obama, whose father was born in the area.

"We will go ahead with this case whether Sen. Clinton or Democratic Party leaders turn up or not," Mohamed Ibrahim, a member of the clan that hosted Obama during his 2006 trip to the country, told Reuters.

31. What's stupid about the Kenyans feeling insulted because
Hillary and her Republican campaign staff implied that Kenyans are terrorists?

36. They did nothing of the sort
first, the Clinton campaign didn't release this - it was on the 'net long before it blew up last week. Second, nobody in the campaign said anything at all about terrorism.

You're just making shit up out of whole cloth.

5. The really silly thing is....
they are claiming it's a smear for Obama to be wearing THEIR traditional garb. Shouldn't it be Drudge who has to come up with some livestock?

6. That is just it. It isn't THEIR traditional garb.
It was somolian garb. And, the point wasn't that he was wearing it. It was that the picture was being used in a derogatory way. You know "be afraid."

7. Why is Somolian garb derogatory?
A lot of visiting politicians are photographed wearing that countries national dress. Sometimes they look silly to us but it's no big deal.

17. Don't play dumb....
It isn't the outfit it is the message that critics are trying to portray by posting the picture. There is nothing wrong with the outfit. There is something wrong with encouraging racial and religious bigots by posting the pictures the reaffirm the bigot's fears.

20. the Post is supporting Obama
and (massive understatement alert) they're not exactly known for keeping their editorial position out of their news reporting.

By the way, having the Post support him is something Obama is not especially proud of, I would think.
