Clinton/Clark 08.
What I'd give for that to be our Democratic ticket this year.

What do other Hillary supporters think? Who'd you like to see as Hillary's VP?

(If the trolls hit this thread, as they inevitably will, just ignore them, and don't fall into their disruption trap.)

War Monger-Veteran. Great balance too. Clark is also brilliant. He also has barnstormed with the campaign for Hillary. He is earning a spot as well...Lots of positives.

There are several people that would make great Veeps. Contrary to the naysayers opinion that Bill will run over anyone who gets it, I think she'll look for a strong Veep.

Clark would be an excellent counter to Mac military service.

And Clark is there as an advisor even if he cant be SoD right now and isnt her running mate. I can certainly see both men serving in some capacity, however things shake out.

76. Wes Clark is listed as veterans out reach
not as an adviser. Gen. Jack Keane who is the architect of the surge is Clinton's military adviser. Her foreign policy advisers are: Lee Feinstein, Holbrooke, and Albright. It should be noted that all of Clinton's advisers supported the war in Iraq.

The chances are slim that Wes Clark would be on a Clinton ticket since he can't bring her any state (the Clintons think that they will carry AR). Bayh is a good bet considering his position in the DLC, and he comes with money.

Unless superdelegates completely subvert the entire process - and none of them are going to be willing to split the party and disenfranchise voters, handing the election to McCain like that.

He's got more money.

He's got more popularity.

And he's got more pledged delegates.

And each of those things will be true at the convention.

Superdelegates have to support him, or alienate all his voters, split the party and lose the election. It's really that simple.

and, while I am not supporting Sen Clinton in these primaries, I'd be excited to vote for that ticket in the GE. I do think, though, that Gen Clark would have to be more "disciplined" on the stump than he was in 04, but I think the experience he has gained since his 04 run (on TV, stumping for others, etc.) will help him. And he'd be a pit bull against the RW attacks.

Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 04:58 PM by theHandpuppet
I need to be reassured that he is 100% behind a woman's right to choose. My understanding is that he is against late term abortions except to save the life of the mother, though we know that late term abortions are rarely done unless there is some catastrophic medical problem involving the fetus.

Second, he has made some ugly remarks about GLBTs in the past and I would like to know that he supports our rights and has become less concerned with what the religious arguments against those rights would be.

If someone could address those two issues for me I'd appreciate it.

because he was on the cover of The Advocate and has been fully in favor of LGBT rights. He vacillates a bit on the marriage issue, which basically puts him in precisely the same place as the other Democratic candidates. http://www.clark04.com/articles/013/

He thinks there should be a much better way of doing things. Back in 2004, I remember hearing him speak about the unfairness of "Don't ask, Don't tell". He brought up specific instances of how this policy was not working.

He is a very compassionate man.

Anybody/Clark, Clark/Anybody, as far as I'm concerned; but certainly Clinton/Clark would be fantastic.

My main concern when he endorsed her was that it made it unlikely he'd be anybody else's VP. (Of course, he'd made a great SOS, too.)

If she were to get the nom, I reeeeeeally hope she'd pick Clark! (If only there were a way for her to let people know ahead of time, too -- that could help her clinch it, I think.)

78. I strongly believe that if Hillary Clinton gets the nomination... she'll need OBAMA
as her VP. The nation is so split right now. The same if Obama wins the nomination. He will need Hillary has his VP. The nation needs to be healed by the supporting the "dream ticket".

84. I've been in love with the idea of that ticket for months now. Good chance she would pick him up
too. I would probably drop my summer semester to go work for that ticket, maybe the fall too. I love that photo Maddy. I traveled for a little bit with Clark's campaign in Iowa, helped with advance work for his appearance at the Drake in '04. Didn't get to see him there though because for me it was on to Fort Dodge. I wanted him to be our nominee so badly. I still believe he would have won in the GE. Of course he and the Clinton's go way back, so he would be a natural choice.

85. That ticket would never be elected, though. It would be a short-term dream on your part.
Best to be realistic.

86. Of course. Have been saying this for months now
and someone agreed that, at least, he won't tower over her...
