6. $109 is a small donation?
i've given $25 a few times. i love obama, but most of my donations go to the poor and animals.

it's insane on what's being spent on these elections.

10. I don't mind it, because it's voluntary spending by individuals
I wouldn't be surprised to find that we (as a country) spent a lot more on popcorn, movie rentals, etc.

13. well we probably have,
but i tend to be more concerned about homeless people, hungry children and abandoned and abused animals. just think how far those hundreds of millions of dollars could have gone.

i'm all for taxpayer funded elections. even hillary has said "that's the way it should be".

18. True, but there are a whole host of things that we can point to as less worthy of our money
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 07:58 PM by stahbrett
That was my point... we can point to annual balloon purchases, family vacations, pork rinds, TiVos, etc. and say, "we could feed hungry people, take care of abandoned animals, etc."

I'm not sold on taxpayer funded elections, because I'm not sure how legitimate candidates are determined, and how spending by special interest groups are controlled constitutionally.

7. Why would he hit a donor?
Doesn't seem like an appropriate response.

12. Why would you doubt a DUer's, when you have no evidence to the contrary?
I find that to be Ubber Rude and unrequired.

Your cynicism is unwarranted.
