In Texas, Clinton Gets Girl Power
Amy Chozick reports on the presidential race from Dallas.

Sen. Hillary Clinton is hoping some good old-fashioned girl power can help her in the pivotal contests in Ohio and Texas on Tuesday.

Today in San Antonio Clinton stopped by a downtown hotel for a quick fund-raiser before traveling to Fort Worth and Dallas for rallies. The donors, who contributed an average of $250 and brought in roughly $200,000, got a surprise visit from feminist icon Gloria Steinem.

The activist and founder of Ms. magazine gave a nod to the few men in the audience promising to give them protection from the “upcoming revolution.” She said there are more women who identify as feminists than as Republicans.

She defended Clinton’s vote to authorize the war in Iraq, saying both former presidential nominees John Edwards and Sen. Joseph Biden voted the same way and were not attacked for it. Steinem said the storm of criticism Clinton has received from Sen. Barack Obama and others over her vote is a “double standard.”

Steinem recounted the history of South Texas and the fighting between the Spanish and the Native Americans. “Peace came in the form of a woman,” she said, implying that it can come again with Clinton.

It was a “you-go-girl” kind of day for Clinton, who also picked up the endorsement of “Desperate Housewives” star and native Texan Eva Longoria Parker and “Working Girl” star Melanie Griffith. The two actresses will be joining Clinton in Texas on Monday as she holds a live interactive “town hall” during which voters across Texas can ask questions via satellite.

7. The end of that article!!
After all the girl power today, Clinton seemed to set the feminist cause back by a couple decades at an outdoor event held at the Fort Worth Stockyards today. “We need a president who can come in on day one and take care of some of that damage ,” Clinton said. “We’re going to have to clean house, and women are pretty good at that.”

She's a "fighter", but she can't take when she is "ganged up on" and the "media is against her".

News flash, Hillary--that is what being President is all about. Nine times out of ten the media will turn on you--if for no other reason than ratings.

even when things fail.
She gave the example of when the 93 univ. health thing failed--she then started to work on SCHIP

that is her def of fighter.

You've made progress.

But I'm also making a point. Girl power seems to be "okay", even for a presidential candidate to associate herself with, because it is of no consequence -- and it's of no consequence because it addresses only the mostly trivial of grievances. Girl power is cute.

Black power is a different story.

I think her unrealistic expectations about what Clinton will do just because she's a woman border on delusional sexism. You have to ignore Clinton's entire career and character to believe what Steinem is saying.

And Edwards was criticized for his war vote. She's being dishonest.

49. "John Edwards and Sen. Joseph Biden voted the same way and were not attacked for it."
Neither of them lasted nearly as long in the 2008 race as Hillary Clinton.

If there is a double-standard, it's not that voters were more forgiving towards their votes for the IWR than towards Hillary Clinton's vote for the IWR.

she is a woman.

and out of touch with the reality of Hillary's vote for war and the many women leaders who have started and carried out wars over the years.

113. Wrong. 'Peace came in the form of a woman' is a book about the vital role women played in history
Try educating yourself, before you go showing off what little Obama supporters know about the history of the Americas.
