GD:P - It is time to take a good hard look at ourselves.
When a post that says:

"Please start posting negativity about Hillary Clinton, documented or made up, doesn't matter....just do it consistently and brutaly (sp). Keep these threads recommended and kicked so that they can float up to other pages that matter much more than GDP. "

Gets seven God damned recs in 10 minutes there is something seriously wrong with this forum.

It would be nice to have a spot to post, and even argue, about campaign events, strategies, polls, predictions, etc. but it is constantly inundated by trash such as this, advocating more trash.

We have become what we purport to hate most in politics.

34. Sounds like this was written by Ann Coulter....sheesh...look at this part...
We need to accept this challenge, and we need to remain as negative and as hateful as possible, without respise until Tuesday. Remember that until we can actually win the nomination, we cannot beat the politics of hate and division and fear. We must scream and scratch louder than the opponent. Scorch earth tactics is our duty until the opponent falls.

There has been enough nasty shit here already without actually encouraging more of it. I just wish that, no matter how annoying or unfair some comment about a candidate might be, people would just get a grip. DU is only an internet message board. If you think it's nasty, either refute it with facts or ignore it. Turn off the computer and make some phone calls for your candidate. Just stop dumping more shit in the cesspool; it's starting to overflow.

5. There are *lots* of good Obama supporters here... I know because
I have engaged some in some great threads. There are *lots* of good Clinton supporters here, too. I have engaged them, too.

I am really neither. I try to point out obvious misrepresentations by either side. I would be happy with either an Obama or Clinton nomination, but I want the process to be fair and informative.

Yet Clinton Supporters cannot seem to grasp too much in their state of desperation.

I cant wait for this to all be over. I hope this next primary is the LAST and Clinton exits so we don't have to go another month with this crap.

14. It's sad really
Rabid hatred of HRC and her supporters has overtaken actual support for Obama. Hence that thread and the ones where people openly wish for HRC supporters to disappear (including making allusions to their "death") just so they don't have to see opposing points of view. Apparently the "unity" they've been preaching about is just bullshit.

15. Really - this goes both ways.
If I see another lying Obama thread, I'm going to lose it. I keep putting people on ignore, and more craptastic posts pop up. It's becoming a lonely place here. I cannot wait until this is all over with.

18. I think what happened to me is I was an Edwards supporter...
and I put most of the rabid Hillary supporters whose goal in life it is to bring other candidates down on Ignore early in the process. Since he dropped out, I don't really care which of them win, but I see far more Hillary bashing threads than Obama bashing ones, because of the early Ignores.

But this post wasn't about threads that lie. I try to point them out in the threads when I see them, Obama or Hillary threads.

This particular thread was *encouraging* making up threads based on lies. And now it has 9 recs. Unbelievable.

24. It was pretty obviously sarcastic to me, but I want no part of that kind of stuff.
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 04:28 AM by Bongo Prophet
After seeing all the nasty back and forth, it was an apparent call to start as many stupid threads from the "opposite side."
But I can see how clumsy and unclear it would be without the "edit' addition at bottom, which clarified the intent.
But still.

Gack. Who needs that?
I am voting for Obama, but I respect many Clinton supporters, and don't go for the low road.

It seems to be the same people on each side that keep taunting each other - I think most of the high road supporters would not touch such a thread either.

Peace :hi:

There is an influx of campaign volunteers/overeager supporters that seem to think we give a shit about their whisper/smear campaigns. Don't blame the community for something that isn't its fault.

31. Took the OP off of Ignore long enough to read the Edit. That
was put there rather conveniently and rather late I suppose, because I read the first bunch of responses, and I don't recall a single mention of "It's satire" to the many who disagreed with the post.

So to the ones that think her post is satire, this one obviously is, too. To the rest of you, we need to fight this shit on the board.
