Just in case you thought the SNL overt endorsement of Hillary Clinton was misunderstood...
... they did it again.

And just in case you thought that their portrayal of Obama as an idiot was a fluke, they did it again.

And just in case you still didn't get it, Hillary Herself introduced the show, "Live from New York, it is (sic) Saturday Night." I guess she doesn't get time to watch the show.

And wasn't it funny the way the Smigel cartoon portrayed Obama as being ashamed of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Gratefully, this all will end soon.

46. I think SNL is evil, just like Jay Leno used to be a major media pimp for Bush
SNL has generally been pretty kind to Bush. When Powell gave his presentation to the UN, SNL did a skit that lampooned the UN as a bunch of useless idiotic thugs. Their parodies of Bush generally make him look more intelligent that he is and less evil. I think it has an impact too. Jesse Jackson's appearance on SNL helped make me a fan of his.

14. Gratefully, I don't buy into that consipiracy theory.
SNL has always felt that the rest of the country should understand their local humor, and we always get a heavy dose of it each week. The past two weeks have simply been a continuation of that with SNL stumping for their new-found first family. It's their show and they can do with it as they please.

And it's my remote. click

I'll watch the Wilco songs on DVR tomorrow morning.

And unless I've been asleep the last 4 years, those people are coming after the Dems again.

And instead of Kerry, this target is even easier.

If you don't see it, you are young and naive.

Oh yeah, because he wasn't even in the game.

He never had a chance to take responsibility, did he?

He's really good at being an Armchair Quarterback.

It's fun for people to throw stones, when they never had any responsibility, isn't it?

"I would have done it differently 5 years ago, if I was a player, but I wasn't even on the team."

Sissy argument on Obama's part.

He needs more testosterone.

28. Well, Obama IS being careful to keep Jackson & Sharpton behind the doors.
I don't fault him for that. They support Obama, but they are more along black activist lines than American politicians for all races. It's something that is necessary be done.

I am an Obama supporter, BTW. I hope voters realize that Jackson and Sharpton are in Obama's corner and are not surprised by this later. I know it, and I voted for him, anyway.

Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 12:41 AM by indie_ana_500
I think you can, if you put on your thinking cap. It's called campaign strategy.

Neither Sharpton nor Jackson are wildly popular throughout middle America...particularly Sharpton, whose claim to fame is as a black activist.

Jackson endorsed Obama. Jackson's wife endorsed Hillary. Sharpton has not officially endorsed, but he supports Obama (I heard him say this in an interview on TV).

Jackson earlier alluded to why he wasn't more in the forefront, since he'd endorsed Obama. I forget the exact words, but he said something along the lines that he and others understood that for the time being, it was necessary that Obama control his campaign a certain way.

That is not racist. But since I'm sure you haven't missed Obama's race being discussed on TV a lot, it seems it would be savvy for his campaign to conduct itself in such a way as not to stir the pot, so to speak. That is reality. And it is smart. And Obama is winning.

124. That's a bit simplistic (I'm a bit of a Sharpton follower)
For that matter, I voted for Sharpton in the primary in '04 (mostly for his position on DC voting rights). He's been very circumspect about Obama so far. Some have speculated that he's being "reined in" (by whom or how is never made clear); I think he's just rather disappointed in Obama and Clinton, or he calculates that his endorsement wouldn't really help anybody either way.

55. Obama controls Jackson and Sharpton? Are you suggesting he owns them?
FYI -- Jackson was on Countdown after Bill O'Reilly's hideous non-apology for the Michelle Obama/lynching remark. Jackson made it perfectly clear that he endorses no one, that he strongly supports both candidates.

Smigel's cartoon is funny if you live in a vacuum...

Sharpton at bay for the campaign.

Jackson alluded to this on CNN earlier....about 6 weeks ago? 2 months ago? It is a necessary campaign strategy.

But, Tina Fey was the one who really came out with the big push, and she was the guest host. So, I shrugged it off.

Tonight, SNL made it clear that Tina had it right.

And are we sure Obama wasn't asked to fly in and make an appearence? Personally the live Hillary appearence didn't do anything for her and I think it would have been better for her to have stay on the trail. Maybe she's going to be in another skit?

94. The show opened with a debate skit in which...
...Amy Poehler played Hillary Clinton. In the skit, the moderators of the debate (Brian Williams and Tim Russert) show favoritism towards Obama.

Then they introduced an "Editorial Response" in which the real Hillary Clinton said that is what the debate felt like, and then Amy Poehler came onstage, still acting like Hillary Clinton, and Clinton complimented her on her impression, and then Clinton said "Live from New York..."

66. Hillary has been getting good media treatment all over the M$M
PBS featured about five or ten minutes of her speaking against Obama without anywhere near equal time for Obama, and the CBS News profile was much kinder to her than it was to Obama. I think seriously that a) she has lots of corporate support, and b) the M$M wants the Democratic primary to go on as long as possible, and c) sometimes "working the refs" does help your team.

121. You don't seem to understand -- the "MSM hates Hillary" campaign has a specific focus.
All Hillary supporters engage in 24/7 whining about negative treatment by the mainstream media. That way, any legitimate criticism can be simply lumped into the "See? They're at it again!" category. Likewise, when positive things come out, they point it out and proclaim, "That's right! The NYT has always hated Hillary, so if they endorse Hillary, then it's because Hillary is clearly superior."

Rove orchestrated this strategy for 6 nauseating years. And now it's back.

Change is good.

79. My take on the SNL appearance and Smigel cartoon
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 12:40 AM by zulchzulu
I'm pretty convinced (and you can bookmark this) that Hillary Clinton will drop out this coming week in New York and her appearance at the end seemed to be in the same vibe that Al Gore's appearance was when he was on SNL after not running in 2008. Hillary Clinton knows she is a "brand" and this appearance was a first step on her recovery from a tragically mishandled campaign. She'll be in NYC this week and concede. Then she will move on.

As for the Smigel toon, it was well done and had some unfortunate truths in how Obama has had to deal with Jackson and Sharpton, who at various times before Obama's success, were saying he wasn't "black enough". Now they want to get on the Bandwagon. Of course, Obama is cautious with ther newfound love for his candidacy. Yes, the toon was a little over the top, but that's what good humor does to people when its brand is to be politically edgy.

I thought Hillary did well and I laughed at the toon. It's SNL ferchrissakes!
