Obama Camp Hits The Ground Running In Philly
The Obama campaign set up shop in Philadelphia today. After a briefing on canvassing tactics and breaking up into neighborhood working groups, it was time to hit the streets in earnest.

Here are a collection of photos from the Center City office and the article from The Philadelphia Inquirer covering today's launch of PA for Obama.

The National Campaign Speaks To the Crowd
(Thank god we had a huge room)

Hitting the streets!

And from the Inquirer...

From the street it was hard to spot the small sign on the door for an office four floors up. But inside there was no mistaking you had walked into a grassroots campaign office.

If the coffee spills on the carpet, open bags of Doritos, and plastic folding chairs didn't give it away, the clipboards with Obama's picture on the back in the hands of volunteers eager to register voters did.

"They don't call it the Keystone State for nothing," said volunteer Jordan Dillard, 32, of Mount Airy, adding that he expected every vote to matter.

-snip-

Josh Uretsky, cochair of Philadelphians for Obama, said he hoped to sign up more than 1,000 Democrats yesterday.

"People are really excited," he said. "They are excited about him as a candidate and person rather than as somebody to replace Bush."

5. I was on the other side of the room!
Thank god! I don't photograph well. ;)

Here are numbers from other areas of the state:
-Pittsburgh meeting: 400 people
-Various suburban meetings around Pittsburgh and Philadelphia: about 100 people each
-Harrisburg: about 100 people
-West Philadelphia: over 100 people (by my rough count)
-Philadelphia: around 350 people for the leadership training session alone!

So, all told, the campaign thought they'd had over 2000 people show up.

Here's a link to my experience at the events:

Ingin, would you agree with these numbers? And thanks a ton for the pics! Which area are you from?

6. South Philly. Numbers agree, maybe a bit conservative, but...
no reason to exaggerate numbers like that!

Heading back down today to drop off a computer and try to find a nitch for my mother (she's itching to get involved).

We only had three weeks to pull this extraordinary effort together in Ohio. Three weeks! And it's been the most intense, most exciting, most thrilling, most uplifting, most FIRED UP three weeks of my life!

Yes We Can, Ohio!
Yew We Can, Pennsylvania!!

Edited to add: Here is my thread about our AWESOME first Obama organizational meeting in Cincinnati, Ohio:
