Hillary Supporters: Desperately Seeking Scandal

Quite a few of DU's Hillary supporters are frantically hoping that some huge scandal takes down Obama. Well, I hate to break it to you, but the odds of that happening are slim to none.

Some of them talk about Rezco in positively orgasmic terms. They thrill to the idea that Rezco will stand up in court tomorrow and implicate Obama in every imaginable kind of criminal wrong doing. That's a fantasy and only a fantasy. Not going to happen.

Fitzgerald has said that Obama has no involvement. Obama is not on the witness list. There is NO indication that he'll be brought down by this. Not tomorrow and not in the future.

It's ironic that so many Hillary supporters push this bullshit- considering the Clintons long history of association with shady characters with deep pockets. Hsu, Gupta, Rich, Giustra; those are just a few of the names that come to mind.

It's so lame to think that the only way your candidate can get the nomination is through scandal taking down the candidate who's winning.


And Rezco isn't the only straw that some of the Hillary supporters are desperately grasping. There's:

Mary Matalin says Obama is a liar!

Obama is Cheney's 8th cousin!

Obama will appoint Hagel as Secretary of Defense! (never mind that there's zero evidence for this)

Obama is completely unknown!

Obama is a trojan horse for a secret cabal!

Obama is a stealth repuke (please see Hagel)

Obama has no experience!

ON EDIT: The OP in no way is meant to be interpreted as saying the gutter politics is one sided. It ain't. There are plenty of awful posts about Senator Clinton coming out of the Obama side of the aisle. Any post that suggests that Senator Clinton is unhinged, wants to bomb children, is an injured wild animal, etc, is just as bad.

a lot of Hillary supporters have not bought into the Rezko story, though. I think your point is better made about gutter politics in general. It's not just Hillary or Obama supporters, it's people who view this contest as a war that needs to be won by destroying one's opponent by any means necessary. I was just discussing with Bi-Baby the stages of grief of the HRC supporters, and where most of them are right now. Some have reached acceptance, and some are in despair.... but I'm a bit shocked to see that some are still in denial. It's weird.

edit: The fact that they're still in denial, will most likely lead to their tombstoning unless they're able to get through the anger phase before the one week reprieve is up.
