Superdelegates' role: Only two in Nebraska remain on the fence

The Nebraska Democratic Party will send 31 delegates to the national party convention in Denver.

Of those, 24 are pledged delegates and obligated to vote based on the Feb. 9 caucus results. Sixteen will cast ballots for Barack Obama and eight for Hillary Clinton.

The others are superdelegates — party leaders who are free to vote for any candidate. One is chosen at the state convention, the rest are:



Audra Ostergard is little-known in Nebraska politics. She isn't used to the limelight or playing telephone tag with the likes of Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.

But as one of two undecided Democratic superdelegates in Nebraska, Ostergard is fielding her share of calls these days from Clinton and Barack Obama supporters.

"It's been kind of exciting but kind of stressful," said Ostergard, first associate chairwoman of the Nebraska Democratic Party.
