1. Thanks for giving this its own thread. Yes-very presidential. AND he explains why HE'S the one who
Edited on Mon Mar-03-08 12:12 PM by jenmito
can get the things done that we need-because he can bring people together. (Hillary and even her supporters) almost pride themselves on FIGHTING the other side.

"I will carry your voices with me to Washington." A positive message w/substance, while Hillary
runs yet more attack ads. The choice is, indeed, clear.

88. Unifying, not dividing. Obama's vision for America.
Very, very good ad. Hillary talks more about Obama than she does about herself, and that doesn't cut it with me. This is Obama's vison ad--spells it out clearly and succinctly.

68. He never has.
This entire campaign he has stated things as clearly as possible, and if his campaign took a step too far, has reeled them in faster than any candidate I have ever seen.

This man and his campaign are really stellar in this respect. Hillary could learn a thing or two...

58. He needs to stop being so genteel about her and slam her
Much of America thinks the Clintons are completely corrupt. He needs to go after her on Gupta, Hsu and Giustra and remind people of the corruption that ever swirls around the Clintons. He needs to pay her back with lots of interest.

73. No, he needs to remain above her.
I *hope* that his refusal to go negative, like Hillary, will reap similar rewards to what it did in Wisconsin. Hillary's attacks have been markedly more intense the last two weeks, but I hope Ohioans, Texans, Vermonters and Rhode Islanders can see beyond the ads aimed at their id, and hand negative campaigning another resounding loss.

And note the tone - not one attack in it. Simply who he is, what he's done, and what he wants to do.

Contrast that with the style of Senator Clinton's campaign and its increasingly strident negativity, and Obama comes off as much more Presidential.

This shows why he's the stronger candidate.

Republican primary voters that they voted for a bloody hell Democrat. Since Obama worked with him and Kennedy on immigration reform, and according to the ever wise and knowing GoldieAZ49, Obama doesn't have a bipartisan record in the Senate (Hagel, Lugar, and Coburn are bloody Democrats, too!), it appears we have all been had by "so-called Republicans".

You're right that most people won't probably watch the whole thing - they've already made up their minds.

But the undecideds will watch. The independent minded undecideds will watch. At he speaks directly to them. "There's a place for everyone in this country."

I think it's a smart, smart move. The unspoken belief about Hillary is that she's a polarizing, angry partisan.

43. It's a brilliant ad from start to finish.
1. Setting: The living room makes for a very intimate setting. Obama is talking to people in their homes. Even the wall color was strategically chosen (I'll let y'all ponder that)

2. Opening: Throws out some buzzwords to grab attention "division" "lobbyists" now he has them listening.

3. Middle: Possibly the least interesting, but now you're listening and you're hearing that wow, looks like this Obama guy has gotten some things done after all!

4. Ending: The strongest. A slow close-up as Barack makes it more personal. He's not perfect, he can admit mistakes, but he will fight for you! (it appears he learned a lot from John, after all)

5. Throughout the ad, there is useful information on the caucus and how to learn more about Barack.

----
My overall opinion, what a refreshing approach to politics. If I were undecided or leaning would this sway me? Probably. I'd at least be thinking about it while my pencil hovered over that bubble. And if I were to caucus later that day, I'd definitely be talking about it and would probably end up gravitating over to the Obama side of the room.

67. WOW!! this is terrific! I really hope he can barrage people tonight
and tomorrow morning. and let us all hope and pray that his ground game is as good or better in Texas and Ohio than it was in places like Virgina, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

71. Very good, overall.
What I liked:

The intimate setting. You can't help but focus on Sen. Obama and he presents a very presidential image.

The positive message, which is a marked contrast to Clinton's escalating negativity.

The honesty of clearly stating that he isn't perfect, he's not a savior, he's going to make mistakes. The message is "hang in there with me, even if I'm not perfect, I'll listen to you and together we'll get things done."

What I didn't like:

It's TOO LONG. Ads like this should be 1:30 TOPS. The best part is at the end and some people will never get to it.

77. Wow, I loved it.
The contrast between Obama and mudslinging Hillary couldn't be clearer!

I hope the high road wins out tomorrow over Hillary's Rovian gutter politics.

GOBAMA!!

89. Let's go VOTE!!

Arya Kamangar from Merced, Calif., stands in the rain Tuesday, March 4, 2008, near a voting precinct in Columbus, Ohio. Heavy rain fell in much of the state Tuesday morning with a forecast of freezing rain, sleet and maybe snow by the time voting wrapped up by evening. Flood warnings were posted in some parts of the state. Ohio's presidential primary typically comes well after the nominee is decided. But as Obama and Clinton have remained in a tight race for nominating delegates, Ohio's contest is key. (AP Photo/Kiichiro Sato)
